  • Mykonos

    We took the fast ferry from Naxos to Mykonos today which took around 1 hour to the new port and the took a water transfer to the old port where we stopped for lunch. After lunch we made our way up the hill to our hotel Despotiko. In the evening we walked around and visited the windmills followed by a lovely dinner at Kastros with sunset views.Read more

  • Exporing Mykonos town

    Today we spend the entire day exploring the gorgeous little streets of Mykonos and did a bit of shopping. When we returned to the hotel we had been moved to a better room on the 2nd floor with sea views. In the evening we went out for

  • Super Paradise Beach

    We tried to hire a ATV today to go to the beach, but weren’t able to get one from a reputable company so we decided to bus it to Super Paradise beach. Thankfully we did just get the bus as the roads weren’t good and parking wasn’t great. We settled at the Jackie O section of the beach which was nice, but a bit showy and the service slow. In the evening we went out to Mamouka for dinner which was fantastic.Read more

  • Elia Beach

    We took the bus today from the old port to Elia and spent the day relaxing and swimming in the crystal clear water. In the evening we went for dinner at Pasta Fresca which was ok, but not amazing.

  • Sorrento

    After a couple of days recovering taking it easy by the pool we left Mykonos early this morning to fly to Naples and then transferred to Sorrento where we checked into a beautiful old hotel call the Imperial Hotel Tramontano. The hotel is perched on the edge o a cliff overlooking the ocean and at the bottom of the cliff little piers with sun loungers. Our room is at the top of the hotel and while small it has a cute little window with an amazing view over the ocean. We spent the afternoon exploring centre of Sorrento And in the evening we went for dinner at a nearby Italian followed by a nightcap in the old fashioned hotel bar.Read more

  • Pompeii and Mt Vesuvius

    We had an early start today to go on a tour to Pompeii and Vesuvius leaving the hotel at 8am. First stop was Pompei to visit the accent ruins from when the volcano erupted in 79 AD. We climbed to the top of Vesuvius to take in the stunning vista.Read more

  • Capri boat tour

    We took a day boat tour to the island of Capri which is about 45mins boat ride from Sorrento. We stopped off to look at the different coloured grottos, but weren’t able to go inside the famous blue grotto as the tide was too high. Instead of queuing for the train to the town of Capri we took the steep stairs and were rewarded with the beautiful view when we reached the top. We spent 5 hours on the island before returning to Sorrento. On the way back the captain stopped off at a waterfall where he reversed the boat back to give us a freezing cold shower! In the evening we ate like the locals in a traditional pizza shop and went for gelato.Read more

  • Day trip to Naples

    We took the ferry to Napes today to explore the city on the open top bus. Then we took a walk through the narrow streets and looked around the shops. We took the late afternoon ferry back to Sorrento and after dinner we stopped off at the hotel bar for our nightly Negroni and beautiful sunset view.Read more

  • Positano

    Today we travelled by ferry from Sorrento to Positano where we check in at Villa Flavio Gioia. The hotel definitely exceeded our expectations as we had booked it last minute and it was the only place available for our dates. It has a lovely little balcony which overlooks the church and the ocean. We spent the afternoon wondering around the little town and climbing the stairs to the viewpoint at the top of the town. In the evening we went for dinner in a restaurant at the top of the hill with lovely views out to sea.Read more

  • Path of the Gods

    Today was an early start to do the path of the gods 7.8km hike from Agerola to Nocelle. We took the ferry to Amalfi and then a bus to Agerola where we started the hike. It was a lovely hike with only a few challenging sections to scale. When we reached Nocelle we were delighted to see a woman selling fresh lemon slush. We then continued the gruelling 1600 step climb down to Positano and further 2km walk. In the evening we had an amazing dinner at Chez Black and a well earned drink!Read more

    We travelled today from Positano to Florence starting with a 90 min drive to Naples then a further 3 hour train ride. We checked in at the hotel C-Joy near the station and went for a walk around Florence.Read more

  • Chianti Wine Tour

    We took the opportunity today to do a wine tour of the Chianti region tour the Curious appetite gourmet tour company. We started with a quick stop to take in the amazing view over Florence from the “fake David” as it’s commonly known. We then travelled in the countryside where the scenery became picture perfect with rolling hills and tall thin Cypress trees. Our first stop of the day was a beautiful little village called Greve where we had some time to walk around the historic square to explore the shops and have a coffee. We then travelled just outside the main village to a tiny vineyard called Castellinuzza Piucca which only produces 2500 bottles per year where we first had a tour of their cellar and then had a fantastic lunch and wine tasting overlooking the beautiful rolling hills. On our way to the next vineyard we stopped off at a tiny little village called Montefioralle which only has a wine shop, bar and a restaurant. The Main Street in the village can only be accessed by foot and was so peaceful and tourist free apart from us! The next and final stop was at Solatione vineyard where we had a lovely tour from the owner Elisabetta followed by tasting and purchases to ship back home! It was then back to Florence where stopped off at a wine bar for a glass of red to top us up followed by a stroll around Florence and pizza.Read more

  • Duomo tour

    Today we took a Duomo tour and climbed the 500 steps through the double dome structure to the top where we had a panoramic view of the city. The intricate details both inside and outside of the building were truly breathtaking. One our tour finished and we walked down the 500 steps to get out we went for a drink in the shade to cool down. We took an easy walk around Florence in the afternoon and returned to the hotel as I wasn’t feeling well (nothing to do with the wine tour the day before!). In the evening we went for a walk around and had a light dinner.Read more

  • Monterosso via Pisa

    We travelled today to Pisa to visit the leaning tower on the way to Monterosso. The tower itself is quite a sight and the city while impressive it its own right isn’t massively exciting. We spent a few hours wondering around before getting back on the train to Monterosso where we were met at the station by the charming Nicoletta who took us to our hotel Camere D'Autore La Poesia. The hotel is located in the old part of the town and has been in the family for 4 generations and only has 4 rooms. In the evening we went for a lovely dinner in a restaurant overlooking the beach.Read more

  • Cinque Terre hike

    We completed the Cinque Terre 11km hike today from Monterosso - Vernazza - Corniglia - Manarola - Riomaggiore starting at 9:45am and finishing at 5pm! The views and little towns along the hike were beautiful and very busy. The trail was very challenging in sections with lots of steep climbs and declines, but it was very worthwhile. When we finally reached Riomaggiore we were knackered and glad to have made the last ferry back to Monterosso.Read more

    We travelled today by train from Monterosso to Milan and checked in at the hotel Spice next to the train station. In the afternoon we took a walk to the centre of the city to see the cathedral and in the evening we had Vietnamese for dinner.Read more

  • Day trio to Lake Como

    Today we took an early train from Milan Central station to Varenna and had a quick around this pretty little town and then took a short ferry ride to Bellagio. We did the tourist train around the town and then went for a lovely lunch and a couple of Aperol Spritz. After lunch we took the long and scenic ferry ride to Como and the train back to Milan.Read more

    We travelled from Milan to Venice today by high speed train which too about 4 hours. We checked in at the hotel Palazzetto Madonna and into a beautiful room with a view from the lounge over a pretty little canal. In the afternoon we went for a walk around the city.Read more

  • Walking tour of Venice

    We joined a walking tour today visiting Rialto Bridge, St. Mark’s Basilica, Doge’s Palace, Bridge of Sighs and took a gondola ride. In the evening we went to a little Italian restaurant called Osteria La Patatina and had a lovely dinner. We then went to visit the firework celebration for Redentore Feast.Read more
