• Morning visits

    November 9, 2018 in England ⋅ ⛅ 12 °C

We set out following another ample breakfast including kipper or smoked salmon and scrambled egg. First stop number 1 the Crescent restored Georgian residence at the beginning of the famous Crescent which has 114 stone columns fronting the terrace.
Next the Victoria art gallery where the special exhibition was by Clifford and Rosemary Ellis who painted posters for the Underground and many plain air watercolours around Bath including many wartime scenes.
Followed this with a light lunch on Poulteney Bridge in the coffee shop overlooking the Avon. A final stroll along the river under the railway to the canal where members of the Canal and Rivers Trust gave us a map of walks for future reference and showed us the deep lock just 100 metres up the canal.
A footbridge and tunnel brought us back across river and under railway to our hotel and bags. We caught the 14.43 GWR back to London Paddington with rain in the offing.
A very pleasant visit and reasons to return.
