  • Day 3, Spain

    5. juni 2025, Spanien ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

Got off the ferry and in to 26c heat. Ditched the normal motorbike gear for the summer stuff. Then got slightly lost getting out of Santander. The sat nav was having a bit of trouble. Headed to our first stop, a view point high up in the Picos. It has a metal platform hanging out over it. Brian even managed to stand on it. Then we set off to the hotel, via roads we were on last 3 years ago. Found an old trip sticker and added this year's sticker next to it. Checked in to hotel and headed out for food. I couldn't finnish my meal, but Brian sure did. With a massive slice of cheese cake for pudding. Miles for today just over 100.Læs mere

  • Day 4

    6. juni 2025, Portugal ⋅ ⛅ 23 °C

Left the hotel, headed to a cave with a road through it. Then more single track roads , some that looked like a vehicle hadn't used in years. The As260 road up to the Mirador del Fitu view point was amazing, more so because we had it to ourselves. Some motorway was used to pass the miles. Once off it the road in to Penferrada the Le142 was a good one, but the Le192 up over the hills was amazing, but in poor condition in some bits. Got to the hotel in Chaves Portugal. Weather was good today, a few spots of rain with mostly mid 20s c. With 333 miles done.Læs mere

  • Day 5 2025 trip

    7. juni 2025, Portugal ⋅ ⛅ 13 °C

Early rise as Brian set his alarm wrong. Set off following the N2 road from Chevas for about 100km it was something out of this world through the vine yards on the twisty roads. Then the roads got even better on the N232 up the mountain and down the other side. Then to to Torre the highest point in Portugal and down from the mountains to our hotel in Castelo Branco all on twisty roads. Sunny clear skies all day with temperatures in the mountains in the mid 20s and down lower hitting a high of 35c.Læs mere

  • Day 6, heading South

    8. juni 2025, Portugal ⋅ ☀️ 22 °C

Found some fast flowing roads, that took us up to view points, lakes and castles. The day started warm, but soon got stupid hot in the afternoon. Had several stops for water and ice cream. The last 10km or so was showing 41c on the Africa Twin. When standing up on the bike it was like someone was using a hairdryer on our faces. Our hotel is another good find and the local restaurant for food was cracking. Eventually found Portuguese food to have. Brian was jealous of my plate. Had a wee walk around Moura and drinks in the hotel bar.Læs mere

  • Day 7 back in to Spain

    9. juni 2025, Spanien ⋅ ☁️ 20 °C

Well we decided to drop today's original plan and go a more direct route. So headed to the Saville area then head south to Algeciras. The day started out with some less travelled roads but finnished on the motorways. Temps at 8.30am were 27c and by the time we finished it was 35c. So drinks by the pool, before our night meal were welcomed.Læs mere

  • Day 8 leaving Spain and arrived Morocco

    10. juni 2025, Spanien ⋅ ☁️ 21 °C

Up early to find our way to the port, found it a long wait before departure. Getting here was relatively easy with customs , passport control etc I thought it was easy, Brian Black had different ideas. Then, only a short ride to the stop for tonight in Chefchaouen our home for tonight!!! First night of 10 nights in Morocco. Got checked in and had some mint tea. Out for a walk around the town and stopped off at restaurant to try out local food. Our 2 course meal and drinks was only £13.77. Back to hotel and plan made for tomorrow and accommodation booked. Weather was over cast all , but the last 1 before getting here. It's very humid ,thunder and lighting forecast overnight.Læs mere

  • Day 9, to South of Fez

    11. juni 2025, Marokko ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

Had a nice run down to South of Fez. Roads were sometimes interesting. From fresh new tarmac to a road under repair with a grader trying to flatten it. Had a few miles of gravel roads under construction, we had to pass some vehicles as they were going to slow. While keeping an eye out for mad overtakes by the locals. Seen a few close calls on the roads today. I
went into a local shop in a remote wee village and got some bottled water. It was only 1.2 dirham, the smallest note I had was 100. Felt bad about it, but left the shopkeeper with the coins. He wanted to give me more water, but I didn't take it. The bypass road through Fes had Brian Black stressed to the max. Had some local on a moped following for miles trying to get us to let him guide us to a hotel, I kept saying no following my Sat nav. Once he eventually realised after about 4 or 5 miles. His face was gutted. Drinks by the pool before food. 205 miles done with a temp of 33c most of the afternoon.

  • Day 10 finding some sand

    12. juni 2025, Marokko ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

After a huge Morocco breakfast. We headed South to find some sand!!!!
The road South seamed to go on and on for ever. One stretch of road had to have been about 80km long with only 2 tiny small kinks for bends. The weather in the morning was perfect. Clear skies, mid 20s on the temperature. Stopped at a view point in a gorge and out of nowhere 2 foke appeared to try selling us stuff. The afternoon found us in strong winds with temperatures climbing up to 42c. It felt like riding in a tumble dryer for hours. Coming in to the town we had the local guides wanting to sell us there services. Hotel was nice and food tasted good too. The cold beers went down well.Læs mere

  • Day 11 out the desert to the mountains.

    13.–14. jun. 2025, Marokko ⋅ ☀️ 32 °C

The day started out at 35c at 9am , got up to near 40c as we travelled. Once climbing in to the High Altas mountains it started to drop. Currently low 20s c. Our host thinks its cold , we don't as we sat outside in the breeze. Short day on the bikes 180ish miles. Had plenty of stops to buy water in wee local shops, as we were thirsty most of the morning. Brian Black isn't broken today, but his bike needed a wee lie down at the end of the day. Some of the local foke live a very simple life with very little, its very humbling to see.Læs mere

  • Day 12, back out of the mountains.

    14. juni 2025, Marokko ⋅ 🌬 36 °C

Arrived at our home for the next 3 nights.
Today started in the hills, a nice 17c but as we left the mountains the temperature rises. So currently at 38c as we arrived. Our host for last night told us about a water fall and cave close by so we headed there first. Well the track had seen a lot of flood damage in the flash flooding Morocco had last month. Got to the end then stated the walk. We it was a disappointment, hardly a drop of water going over the fall. So turned back to tackle the track on the bikes again. Going through the wee villages the kids loved to wave as we passed.
Following the road to the famous Gorges Dades, to get the picture that's its well known for. Once out of it and back on the main road it was again like riding inside a tumble dryer with the wind and heat. Stopped for drink and ice cream at a local shop with a shade out front. A local lad was loving the motorbike bikes. Short day by distance but tiring.

  • Day 13 a chill day.

    15. juni 2025, Marokko ⋅ 🌬 32 °C

Had a rest day today, hardly any miles on the motorbike. We had a tour around the Alats Studios. With our own tour around the desert near the Studios to check out the film sets. On dirt tracks for a few miles. Some film sets were used for Gladiator 1, Game of Thrones, Ben hur, the list is long. It was a good day out to unwind. Brian may have recovered a bit now.Læs mere

  • Day 14 run out over mountains and back.

    16. juni 2025, Marokko ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

Had a run out over the Alats mountains, a different pass each way. Was hot north of the mountains up to 42c and once back to hotel its a much more manageable 36c.
Roads found on the first pass stared out good, swapped to single track with lots of washed out bits with flash flooding last month. Came across road upgrade works, no bypass around it or traffic lights here. You just ride through the works avoiding the diggers and the holes. As they work on the new road. Found a petrol station with a swimming pool out the back too. The road back over was a fast flowing road with sweeping bends. But as all ways mad local drivers, over taking on bends, cutting corners etc. Out to same restaurant as last night, and we are stuffed. And foke thought I would starve in Morocco, its the opposite the weight has gone on.Læs mere

  • Day 15 back over the mountains again.

    17. juni 2025, Marokko ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

Well today started out with miles of flat and straight roads. Stopped at a film sets for ' the hills have eyes ' never heard of it . Bribed the watchman to get the bikes in.
Once in the Mountains again for our 5th crossing of them. The road was nothing special. I said ' hopefully it gets more interesting ', did I soon regret saying it. On the way up miles and miles of road works. So gravel roads, poor tar and dodge the rock piles. Thankfully the workers were on there afternoon brake in the high heat. Coming down the other side of the pass the road went back to single track tarmac, with signs of lots of rock falls. Also noticed lots of houses flattened or just about flattened. With lots of temporary housing. A Google search, I found the area had a bad earthquake about 18 months ago. Then soon found more road works that lasted miles and miles, but this time the workers were working. So diggers, lorries etc all over the place. The local drivers have no patience. So it overall made for interesting riding. Brian Black and myself are shattered from today, lots of concentration needed.
Found our accommodation just south of Marrakesh with a temp of 38 and thunder and lighting in the distance. The bikes were a bit dirty this morning, but now alot worse.
Rooms are good and again the food was amazing.

  • Day 16, heading north

    18. juni 2025, Marokko ⋅ ☁️ 37 °C

Today started out at 9am with temperatures in the high 20s. We're were on the outskirts of Marrakesh and even then the locals were mad on the road, but to get anywhere we had to join them. The morning was long flat roads with temperatures hitting 40c. Had a few drink and ice cream stops. One local shop keeper took pity on us and came out with 2 chairs for us. Once in the hills the roads were fast and twisty. With hardly a vehicle on them. In the hills the temperature was in the high 20s and was a welcome brake from the heat of the morning. It didn't last as once out the hills heading to accommodation back up to 39c. Only a few rain drops found us in the afternoon, but not very far away was thunder and lighting. Found more road works and riding on gravel again. The track to the accommodation was not the best, steep with hair pin bends on gravel.
Total distance since home is 3750 miles!!!

  • Day 17, heading to the coast

    19. juni 2025, Marokko ⋅ ☁️ 36 °C

Well today was our last full day in Morocco. Started out in the hills and ended up on the coast. Was yet another hot day temp up to 42c. Roads were just like previous days ie dead strait for miles, or road works for miles. Also through more town with locals walking out on the road with out looking and the mad driving . We had a few drink and ice cream stops. Our last accommodation is a European style hotel, so we have beer!!! So the plan is to use up the Morocco money. We look like a couple of alkies looking out our only cash to see what we can afford. 😆
And our sticker will forever be behind the reception desk.
Ferry back to Spain is booked and so is tomorrow nights accommodation.

  • Day 18, leaving Morocco

    20. juni 2025, Marokko ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C

What a long day!!!!! Up at 6am for breakfast at 6.30am. Port was an hour away. Got through all the checks. Then had a long wait for the ferry. It was ether 40mins late or 20 early. Depending on if it ran on Morocco time or European time.
We then were off the ferry after all the lorries. Spanish customs were checking them for ages. With us at the back of the queue. We eventually got fed up and queue jumped and got waved through customs. Then a long and hot run up in to Spain. Temperature was 42c this afternoon. Had a quick stop off at Ronda for a few pics and Brian decided his bike needed a wee lye down. Staying in a service station hotel near some main road. For the cost of the rooms its a absolute bargain. Best result is cheap cold beer , as we had 9 nights in Morocco with none.
