• Day 11 - Clare Valley

    August 5 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 9 °C

Just for something different it was cold this morning. Rarely do I wear a t-shirt, long sleeve shirt AND jacket…..but today (all day) it was needed.

Had a quick coffee just down the road at a great new restaurant/cafe. Dinner there tomorrow night.

Based on recommendations we all headed to a little town called Burra which was 42 kms away.

Went to the visitor centre and purchased a Heritage Passport which included a key to a few “locked” doors and gates of a number of historic sites around the area.

Some amazing memories on show in relation to mining in the town. Spoke to one of the volunteers about various things. He’d spent a bit of time in Perth 30 or 40 years. To cut a long story short he knew a guy I went to primary school with.

Headed on back to Clare Valley town for a mid afternoon snack. Well, not much luck there. We caught most places between their lunch and dinner trading. Managed to find somewhere to feed the hunger.

Did a bit more provision shopping before going back to the vans. We pottered around for a bit before visiting a local pub for a typical country meal.

Our first encounter with rain this afternoon, although not enough to upset any apple carts.

Straight home and into bed because of……….you guessed it, the cold.
