Day 20 - Wilcannia to Cobar

Very pleasant morning today. Wasn’t the usual bitter cold it has been, but it was an early start.

The drivers headed for fuel, dropping Gail, Karen and Julie off at the bakery to place our brekkie orders. Great little family run business. One of the best bacon and egg rolls I’ve had. Plenty of all ingredients.

Another drive that left a lot to be desired. The roads are certainly not as good as our own.

What is definitely obvious is the increase in traffic in the opposite direction. Every man and his dog seems to be heading to Mundi Mundi for the bash. In fact most people we spoke to assumed that’s what we were doing.

Karen found us an overnight stop just on the outskirts of town which 20 or so other vans had decided to use as well.

Not much in the way of unpacking so a stroll into town to find somewhere to eat for lunch. Unfortunately there weren’t too many options.

We headed back to the vans for a very very lazy afternoon.

It was time I tried to master the telescope. You don’t need to RTFM these days, ChapGpt is everyone’s best buddy. I consulted my mate and managed to get a little further along the path of understanding how to use the bloody thing. Still a bit further to go though. Peter and Graham were right on hand to help as well.

One thing Gail and I look forward to every evening is the FaceTime call with Jarryd and Evie. It seems like Gail and Bri are on the phone a couple of times a day as well.

Another excellent meal to end the day and then another early retirement. These early retirements are the reason for my early morning posts.Read more
