Day 27 - Lightning Ridge

Another dawn another day and another soak in the artesian bath……..by myself. It’s our last full day in The Ridge.

Today the clouds made for an incredible sunrise.

Those clouds decided to not only hang around but gift us with very light drizzle from early to mid afternoon right through till we hit the sack.

After I returned from the bath the others decided they’d give it a go. Some say the healing qualities of the artesian water which is at about 40 degrees is definitely worth it.

Because of that drizzle, we all had a very lazy day. Graham and Karen ventured into town for some last minute sightseeing and souvenir shopping and a bite to eat.

Peter, Julie, Gail and I followed a bit later for a bite to eat, last minute supplies and fuel.

Julie is the matriarch of the Nannas in our group, Gail, Anne and Karen are newbies. Julie and Gail have spent many a spare moment with a needle or 2 in hand and balls of wool underfoot producing “things”. As of today, Anne has joined in.

In another desperate attempt to make the most of a day spent watching the drizzle, Julie kindly volunteered to put my head out of its misery and give me a haircut.

Oh…..Stevie (Peter and Julie’s canine daughter)…got to wear her new coat today.

Not sure if I previously mentioned Peters “love” of creepy crawlies. We were all sitting under the cover of rain just chilling……when Peter leaps out of his chair yelling something like “what was that”……given our extreme empathy for Peter we were all in fits of laughter trying to work out what had dared entering his personal space. (Photographic evidence is attached).

Still no success with my awning. Graham however managed to get a few chores done despite the drizzle. He cleaned his car and navigated its engine bay attempting to change light bulbs.

The Ziggy and Baby Q’s all got a work out for tonight’s dinner. Roast chicken, pork and veges were a very welcome delight.Read more
