Day 1 - Porto to Matosinhos

Today was a beauty of the day! The weather was cooler ranging between 17 and 24° with the most amazing breeze coming up off the ocean. I walked out of Porto and over to Matosinhos, along the ocean and through groups of tourists enjoying the beach. I saw more than one topless lady and I love how body positive the Europeans are! I wish North America could just be a little bit more like that.

I met up with a girl named Rachel and walked with her for about 6 km. Her reason for doing the Camino was to come to a decision on career next steps and whether she wants to move out of Portugal to pursue a higher paycheck. When she asked me why I was walking… well… I need to work on my reason. Maybe I’ll be able to articulate it better once I reach Santiago.
