    Day 3 25/5/26

    28 de março, Indonésia ⋅ ☀️ 31 °C

Had a broken sleep last night as expected but I’m on holiday so all good. Went down for breakfast only to see a family from New Zealand that I follow on Facebook. Had a photo taken with the girls so that was a nice start to the day.

It’s funny how many different personas you take on when travelling alone? One minute I might be quite loud and chatty and the next minute I’m very quiet and shy.
Is this normal? I mean, who am I?

Got ready and headed to the beach, lovely hot day, beach is quite empty. The man wanted 200,000 for a Sunbed and umbrella which equals to £8.38. Being me I knocked him down to 125,000 which equals to £5.24

Spent a few hours on the beach just chilling dipped my toes in the water and read my book.

Went back to room shower and changed ready for my sunset trip this evening. Collected on time and a nice ride to the harbour. I love how smoothly everything works.

Lovely staff/crew very welcoming, can’t do enough for you. Encouraging me to join in dancing and chatting to me. I got first servings for the buffet meal. Sat on a table on me own lol but I’m ok with that. They all wanted to feed me up with more and more food. Extra care because I’m a veggie letting me know what I could and couldn’t eat.

I felt like I was quite a special guest, as they kept making sure that I was okay. There was a band playing whilst we ate, it was quite good.

After dinner, we went outside and watched the show they put on.

It was a very lovely enjoyable evening.

06:36 driver arrives and I’m here. Hate these drop off first part of the journey always a bit tense. But all good. I’m sitting here drinking my matcha after a leisurely stroll round the shops ready for the first part of my journey. A mere 10 hrs 1 min. ✈️ ✈️Leia mais

  • Day 2

    24 de maio, Inglaterra ⋅ ☀️ 14 °C

Day 2. 10 hour flight done. I had a nice window seat at the back and managed to sleep on and off. Watched a film and played some games. Transfer went smoothly straight through onto next flight no waiting but no hurry. Booked premium seats only £50 but not sure if it’s worth the extra tbf. Slept on and off for 6 hours. Woken up for breakfast. I just had the coffee and now only 1.5 hrs to go.
Landed 20 mins early. Excited to be here. eek ….finally found my bag that’s always a relief! Found my taxi driver. Hotel 28 mins away £4.78 pre booked via booking . com everyone being collected are having flowers put round them and photos. Me ! I get the 10yr old driver who doesn’t speak English. That was a very quiet journey 😂😂
Checked in, showered, changed and went for a walk about to explore . Stopped to have a Full body massage £7.50. Then down to the beach. Wow I can feel myself relaxing already. I was starving so stopped at a beach side restaurant. Had a filling snack, walked along the beach for awhile and headed back to the hotel and my bed

  • Day 4 26/6:26

    26 de maio, Indonésia ⋅ 🌬 28 °C

Slept really well. Had breakfast and was collected by Putu - my driver at 09:30 and taken on my trip around Bali. We started at GWK cultural park and temple where I had a nice wander around seeing the temple and huge GWK monument. How these statues are made and put in place amazes me. I watched a short performance and saw the lotus pond. Back to the car and we head off to Melasti beach a nice sandy beach. Lots of rocks in the water but I went in for a dip and read on the beach for 1.5 hrs. We turn headed off to another beach Pandawa beach. Another nice beach. Very rocky water with lots of seaweed so I didn’t go in. Sat for a while then back to the car and back to the hotel getting back around 5pm

Booked Mount Batur tour and taxi to airport. Had shower and went out to grab dinner. So stuffed, food was lovely.

Back to the hotel to pack as I check out tomorrow, getting collected at 8am for another day of adventures.

  • Day 5 27/6/26

    27 de maio, Indonésia ⋅ ☁️ 27 °C

I was collected by my driver at 8 am and we drove for about 1.5 hours to Tegenungan waterfall. I had photos taken and explored. Beautiful place. Lots of walking. Very hot today so was breathless quickly as loads of steps.

We drove onto the rice fields. It was very busy there. Lots to see but needed a tour guide tbf. Steps up and down and across fields. Lots of people and a lot going on there was zip wires, magic carpets that took you across from one side to the other, and there was lots of different swings. The Red dress swing was something I’ve always wanted to do and now I have.

Onto the Coffee plantation, I was shown the animal that eats the coffee bean, not happy that it was in a little cage and looked very sad, the coffee is made from their poo. Apparently there are hundreds of luwarks in the jungle that come out when it is dark, in the daytime the staff collect their poo.
After a brief tour, I was given some tea and coffee to sample.
The Bali coffee was very gritty
But all the other coffees and teas were lovely

I didn’t try the coffee made from animal poo though!

Bali's famous animal coffee, known as Kopi Luwak or civet coffee, is made from beans excreted by the Asian palm civet (locally called a luwak). The small, cat-like nocturnal mammals eat the ripest coffee cherries, and natural enzymes in their digestive tract ferment the beans, resulting in a distinct, smooth, and expensive brew.

Onto restaurant for lunch. Wasn’t that hungry so just had soup and drink. But it was nice. After lunch we went to my hotel and I checked in very nice place with two swimming pools.

Chilled in room as very tired. My sunrise Jeep tour what’s app to confirm pick up of 03:15 🥴. Not even got a tan yet lol too busy exploring.

Went for a walk to the market and stopped to eat. Not really hungry but can’t go to bed with just some soup in me back to room to try n sleep 😴

  • Day 6 28/5/26

    28 de maio, Indonésia ⋅ ☁️ 19 °C

Woke early and was collected by car at 03:15 to go on the jeep Mount Batur sunrise tour. Collected another girl Melissa who was also from the UK so that was nice and made the trip by having someone to talk to.
We drove for around 1.5 hours to the mountain where we transferred onto a jeep with another girl from Paris who had limited English, we took a very very bumpy hilly ride up to the volcano and did not see the sunrise as it was too cloudy !

we had breakfast there and I had Snake skin fruit for the first time

We’ve then drove up the volcano and stopped to look at the Black volcanic rock.

Next we drove on to the hot Springs which again was not what myself and Melissa expected it was lovely, but very smelly and full of flies more like big swimming pools with very hot water. We stayed there about half an hour as it felt quite dirty. Finally our driver took us back to our hotel rooms. Altogether took around eight hours.
Back at hotel I chilled around the pool. Very overcast here in ubud.

I’ve then walked down to the monkey forest. Paid the £5 entrance fee and I had a nice stroll around, seeing all the. monkeys.

Back to my hotel for dinner as I’ve got another early start in the morning getting collected at 4 am to go to airport to fly to Labuan Bajo

  • Day 7 29/5/26

    29 de maio, Indonésia ⋅ 🌙 24 °C

It seems that this trip isn’t meant to be. I hope by the end of this blog that everything‘s gone to plan.

My pre booked taxi driver is meant to pick me up at 4 am. He just messaged to say he’s waiting for me at the airport I’m like no you need to pick me up at the hotel and take me to the airport, which is an hour and 10 minutes away.
He misread the message from his Company and said he will be 45 minutes oh dear am I gonna miss my flight?
Yay he made it to me in 45 mins and back to the airport in an hour. I made the flight woo hoo ! He did drive like he’d stolen it but that’s pretty much the norm here. Yeah I’ll over take the lorry , the bikes and cars coming towards me will move over 😂
My luggage was overweight as expected as when I had to change flight my allowance went from 20kg to 15kg. I managed to put quite a lot in my backpack which broke my back but still had to pay. All is good and I’m here. Transferred my backpack contents back into my suitcase and waiting to be picked up. Taxi arrived 09:30 I was waiting from 08:15 and keep getting asked if I wanted a taxi by the same people 😂 then it was what hotel are you staying at. I ended up with a shake of my head each time lol
Arrived at the port and waited in the immense inside heat for about two hours finally we boarded the boat.
There’s quite a few of us I think they’re nearly all Korean. and one French man and one Dutch man who are 2gether and me on my own which is good because that means I’ll get my own room. It is a really nice little cabin. I’m looking forward to sleeping in there tonight so tired I could fall asleep now.
I sorted out my suitcase and the room to my liking and I’m now sitting on the top deck enjoying the sun waiting to start the long itinerary. Wish I could remember it but for the life of me i can’t lol. I will take it as it comes and just enjoy the moments
After sitting around the boat, we had a nice lunch and then got into a small boat and went to
Kelor island to do some hiking and to see some baby sharks.
We started to hike up the steep hilly mountain, about halfway up. I decided this wasn’t for me and came back down. I know when enough is enough and I didn’t need to climb up to prove anything.
After my incident in the bat cave in Cambodia I learned my lesson !

So whilst the others struggled to climb up, I went for a nice swim looking for the baby sharks. I didn’t see any. I saw lots of nice fish and finally got to sit on a beach. I am so tired I could just go to sleep.

Back on small boat back to big boat only to be told we was going snorkelling again. So after a while we got back in the small boat went 1 minute away and snorkelled. Lots of lovely coloured fish to see. Back on boat shower and chill time.
We watched the sunset and the 1000’s of birds fly across the sky such a magical moment
Had dinner and finally I got to go to bed at 8pm

  • Day 8 30/5/26

    30 de maio, Indonésia ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C

Wow I slept solid and woke at 6am. Breakfast is 6:30-07:00 and then we’re going to Rinca island to see the Komodo dragons
Had toast and some spicy omelette for breakfast. 2 cups of coffee to ensure I was fully awake
We got in the small boat to Rinca island to see the Komodo dragons. We saw lots and had a million photos taken so lots of waiting around. Saw some monkeys in the tree that reminded me of the song I sing with the kids lol
I thought the trip around the island would be longer, as did the other people. It did seem quite short and fast almost like the tour guide was bored and just wanted us to walk catch up with him spp the time, so we couldn’t see as much as we would like. But it was lovely to see the dragons and get some good photos.
Back on the boat we had an hour to the next part of snorkelling so I chilled in my room then sunbathed on top deck. Internet came back on briefly so I caught up with messages.
Snorkelling and seeing mantra was fun. So glad I brought my own mask. No photos just excited to see so many gigantic mantra. Back on board for lunch.
All people on board apart from 1 French and 1 Netherlands students. The rest are Indonesian. Apparently this is a popular trip for them.all from Jakarta the same as the 2 students.
After lunch we sailed off to another place to do more snorkelling I chose to stay on the boat as feeling tired and lazy.
I thought we was going to lots of other islands as per the itinerary but nope. When they came back we sat around for ages and then got back in the small boat and went to Sebayur island. Again they took 100’s of photos and videos using cameras and drones. We sat and watched the sunset which was lovely. Back on the boat we had dinner. Finally got Internet again and then u went bed.

Woke early had breakfast and went to Bidadari Island for beach and swim 1 hour. Back to boat and had lunch at 0945!? Back to harbour and end of trip. I negotiated a deal for tomorrow to go to the pink beach. Padar Island. Watch this space.
Taxi to my next hotel this is my 3rd hotel of the trip but I’m just here for the night. Get collected at 6am for boat trip to islands.
Checked in and had the longest shower, scrub , hair wash ever. Even though I knew I was going down to the beach I still felt really dirty. I sorted out my dirty washing which I will get washed at my next hotel at last I feel clean.
I walked down to the beach/pool/restaurant feeling like a new person. Ordered coffee , mango juice and some bruschetta, swam in the pool and chilled

I also got 10% discount on my food and drink as I’m a level 3 genius on booking.com so if anyone wants to book a hotel let me know if I book it you get the discount.

Spent the rest of the day lazing on the beach reading and swimming in the sea. Watched the sunset and went back to my room as another early morning

    1 de junho, Indonésia ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

Slept so well. Woke at 05:30 finish packing and went down for breakfast on the beach. Life is so good.
Collected at 06:30 and taken to harbour. Boarded speed boat and off we went for my next adventure. To visit 6 islands.
    1st stop
Padar Island: A rugged volcanic island where you will hike to the summit for a famous 360-degree panoramic view of three distinct colored beaches.
I did lots of climbing up and up but it was lovely.

    2nd stop
Pink Beach: A striking stretch of shoreline tinted pink by microscopic organisms mixed with white sand, perfect for swimming and sunbathing.
Lots of photos taken here, finally I got to see what I came here for.

    3rd stop
Komodo Island: A guided trek alongside local park rangers to see the prehistoric Komodo dragons in their natural habitat.
We walked through the village until we saw two Komodo dragons and had a photo shoot.

    4th stop
Taka Makassar: A tiny, crescent-shaped pink sandbar surrounded entirely by shallow, translucent turquoise waters.
I didn’t swim here as I was happy to wait for the next stop in 5 mins.

    5th stop
Manta Point: An open-water marine spot where you can snorkel alongside massive, gentle reef manta rays. We swam here but I was getting a migraine, we didn’t see any manta rays so got back in the boat.

    6th stop
Siaba Besar Island (or Kanawa Island): A vibrant coral reef zone heavily populated by wild sea turtles, ideal for drift snorkeling. I didn’t swim here as my head was pounding. The sea was really choppy and no manta to be seen

We headed back to Labuan Bajo
Got taxi to hotel. Quick change and same taxi to airport. Flight back to Denpasar to final hotel

    Hotel number 4.

Though it’s 5 if you include the stay aboard boat.

    2 de junho, Indonésia ⋅ ⛅ 29 °C

Had a lovely sleep in a bed that could fit 6 people easily. Woke 07:30 went for breakfast
Wow what a feast. I had a mixed omelette , toast n marmalade, cereal milk and fruit, muesli yogurt , 3 cups of coffee. 2 glasses of juice. Wow that was the best I’ve eaten for ages.
Right now I need to concentrate on getting a suntan
I got ready for the beach and chilled on a Sunbed on the sand. It was so hot today I was in and out the sea.
I had so much fun the waves were massive and I was jumping in and out of then . I was the only one in the sea. I wish I could’ve recorded myself having that much fun.
Went back to hotel around 15:30 thought I’d have cake and coffee mmm lovely cake. 55,000 then they add tax and service charge 66,500 still it’s only £2.77 lol and that’s hotel prices
Showered etc and went for a walk to explore. The local supermarkets are Circle K. So got a few bits there dirt cheap
Then I was passing a Massage place I thought I’ll pop in and have a massage. I asked for 60 minute one, five minutes into it I change it to a 90 minute massage oh my God it was amazing £8. I’ll be back again tomorrow.
Walked back to the hotel a different way and went to the rooftop to have some dinner and then bed.

  • Day 13 4/6/26

    4 de junho, Indonésia ⋅ ⛅ 30 °C

Kris brought my food to my room last night he was really concerned about me. He’s only a young boy but gave me the biggest cuddle ever and spoke about in COVID-19 how he has working in another country and was confined to his hotel room during Covid for a really really long time so he knew how I felt being confined to my room with my leg.
This morning he came to visit me at breakfast and brought me some oil. He treated me to it. He said to put it on three times a day and it will help heal. How sweet was that. All the staff have been so lovely this morning asking how I am.
I spent the day chilling around the rooftop pool which was just what I needed. I did some gentle physio in the pool which really helped, I had lunch round the pool. The sun sets around 530 so at 5pm I went and showered and lay on my bed with my compression sock and my leg elevated.

  • Day 12 3/6/26

    4 de junho, Indonésia ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

Woke had breakfast and went down the beach and that was where the nightmare started.

The waves were extremely high today, and as I stood in the sea watching the waves, a massive one knocked me off my feet. I tried to stand up and my leg gave way. It was like jelly. I was so scared. The pain was immense. The waves kept pulling me into the sea and then pushed me back onto the beach and then back out again. It seemed like forever. Finally I managed to pull myself out and crawl up to my Sunbed. I can’t believe there was other people on the beach taking photos, but nobody came to help me.
I lay on my sunbed and checked my leg over nothing was broken but the pain was still really intense and I couldn’t stand on it
I called the beach boy over. He called the hotel who came with a stretcher carried me up to the hotel and put me into a wheelchair and wheeled me to my room I was an inch thick covered with sand.
They asked if I wanted to go to hospital, but I asked for the doctor to come and see me instead. A doctor and a nurse came out and checked my leg over. I still could not bear weight. They gave me an anti-inflammatory injection and a pain killer injection. Gave me some tablets and said to call them if the pain got worse.
Cleaner came and swept up the sand and changed the bed covers sand was everywhere !when everybody went I had a good cry and then I hopped into the shower and washed my hair and body around five times trying to get all the sand off. I then hopped back into my bed and receptionist brought me up some ice. I lay on my bed with my leg elevated and ice wrapped around my knee which had now swollen quite a lot.
    3 hours later
I could now weight bear a little bit so was happy with this
    RICE
    I rested
I applied ice for 20 mins on 1 hour off
I cut the toes off my flight socks and put that on for compression
I elevated it above my heart level on 4 big pillows

At 5pm I hobbled down to the lobby for coffee and cake. I can now weight bear and between compression, ice, elevate and rest I am walking slowly around my room
Ordered some room service food took my meds and will sleep. Praying for a recovery in the morning 🙏
