    A little bit of emo Camping 🖤

    From Interlaken 🇨🇭 to Aix-les-bains 🇫🇷

    A very exciting first 24 hours on our camper trip. We left Interlaken in the depth of winter and drove though heavy snowstorms to the French countryside Aix-les-bains. Arriving in Aix-les-bains we chose to stay at Camping du Sierroz, a small and cheap option. Unfortunately we found out French people don’t know what toilet seats are. We’re very sad for them.
    Not an issue, we decided to go to one of the many termes and get a good spa, hammam and relaxing in. A very (!) adventurous bike ride with (very dutch) camping bikes through the city center of Aix-les-bains, up the hill and almost hitting several French senior citizens we found ourselves at ValVital. After some much needed relaxation we enjoyed the adventurous bike ride DOWN the hill and some delicious Ramen. And then off to sleep we went.    Leggi altro

    Cake by the Ocean

    From Aix-les-bains we drove to the ocean as that was our goal to begin with. Good food, warm weather and the ocean to be specific. We got 2 out of three and made it to Camping du Domain, a huge 5 star campsite. Even though it was a five star the facilities were very disappointing. Once again we’ve realized that the French don’t know about toilet seats, should we tell them? Not sure if they would understand is even though our French has been doing spectacular down here. Food is great, the view and the sunrise from our camper even better. Heading towards Italy after this 🇮🇹Leggi altro

    We don’t know where we are but it’s nice

    Listen. Two 30+ year old women travelling in a camper by themselves for the very first time are obviously going to indulge in French pastries and coffee so we started our day fresh and not-as-rested-as-we-hoped in a Boulangerie. Suisse pain au chocolate (what?) and coffee with almond milk. This was also a huge surprise as well as we’ve noticed that French people are not aware of plant-based milks or aware of the existence of other milks than cow-milk, specifically. We once again felt sorry for them but continued our journey to the sea 🌊 Off South we went 🌊Leggi altro

    This was by far the most difficult route to drive. Especially the last 15 minutes got me close to a mental breakdown. The narrowest street ever to get to this Campsite in Menton, probably breaking several traffic laws - nobody told us this was going to be so hard to reach and nowhere did they mention it on the website - what? A couple of Aperols later and some good French Riviera food we’re off to Italy to join the Mafia 🇮🇹Leggi altro
