    Leaving Home

    Leave home at 3am, Katrina mentioned to the family that Teddy and Watson were very sad they were leaving.
    Nanny couldn't handle it so packed up and left for the Robbo's house at 6.30am to check on the puppies only to find Teddy sitting on the front step!
    Upon further investigation it is found that Teddy has made a break... out through Patrick and Judes bedroom window! Nanny has saved the day and now the babies are sleeping.    Læs mere

    We have arrived. Rome

    17. september 2023, Italien ⋅ 🌙 24 °C

    KATRINA - It's 11 o'clock at night here and we are exhausted. Straight to bed. It was cool when we were driving through Rome and there are so many people around. Lots of cafes, bars and gelato. Will explore tomorrow and send pics xx sleep now zzzzzz

    DAVID - Everything is really old, but bigger than we were expecting.

    KATRINA - We have had a great sleep and we had a great breakfast, ready to explore!!

    KATRINA - We lit a candle for Grandma today xx

    KATRINA - I'm wide awake lol. I went to bed at 8pm. My body is still adjusting. We walked all day yesterday, so we were all so tired when we got home. It is really hot here so everyone is sweaty all the time. We had our first pizza yesterday and it was amazing. We are going to the Vatican today which I am looking forward to.

    KATRINA - Mum... do you see the cheeky little passenger on the scooter? Look where the man's feet are

    KATRINA - We went to the Vatican and it was amazing. I can't stop thinking about it. So many brilliant things to see, but there were thousands of people there.

    KATRINA - This picture is the roof of the Sistine Chapel painted by Michaelangelo. Unbelievable

    DAVID - So noisy Sam, we had to have little radios and headphones to hear our guide. So busy, thousands of people in there!

    KATRINA - We are going to the Colosseum today, really looking forward to it.
    We have been walking about 5 hours a day and it is so hot.

    KATRINA - We've left Rome. It was brilliant but so busy and noisy... Rachel you would have been on melt down mode the whole time. We are on the train to Florence now which is so cool. Will be there in 40 mins. Looking forward to it.

    KATRINA - This is some delicious Roman street food we had. I can't stop thinking about it

    KATRINA - The rice ball is call suppli. Its like arancini but better. The rice is cooked in a rice tomato sauce, a big chunk of mozzarella in the middle and then crumbed and fried.
    The triangle is called a trapazini. My one was eggplant parmigiana and the boys all got a meatball one. It was out of this world

    KATRINA - Yes it is so weird. It's just like you turn a corner and there it is.

    DAVID - There is no logic to how Rome is set up. Everything is just everywhere. It's a crazy place!

    KATRINA - This is taken at the top of palatine hill, which is where all the emperor's palaces were. In the background you can see the ruins of the Roman Forum, and tomb of Julius Caesar . But you can also see on the left there are modern building that people live in. Their backyard are the ruins of ancient Rome. It is bizarre

    Florence

    DAVID - So.... Florence is just as crazy as Rome.
    DAVID - Glad to be away from the Crowds in Rome. Hello Florence !
    KATRINA - We are leaving Florence today to fly to Malta. We are all exhausted and looking forward to resting and relaxing tomorrow by the pool.
    DAVID - I've had at least 1 croissant for breakfast every day!
    KATRINA - Jude has been so good with the walking. He has chafe so he is hitting the 3b pretty hard. By the afternoon he does the wide leg walk which is 😂 we are walking for around five or six hours a day so the poor guys balls/bum cheeks/thighs are copping a hammering lol
    KATRINA - We are all such a bunch of babies we miss everyone lol the flight is about 1 hour 40 mins. We are getting picked up in half an hour and going to Pisa. We will stay there for a couple of hours and then head to the airport. Should arrive in Malta at about 6pm. It's 8.45 am here at the moment    Læs mere

    Malta

    DAVID - It's been a bit full on. The hotel is in party central, which we didn't expect. The first night was pretty bad, dosh dosh all night till 5am. We spent today by the pool, and got our bearings. We have a cruise to the smaller islands tomorrow (so plenty of photos to come). It's been a bit of a shock coming from "old Italy" to Ibiza!
    KATRINA - Wow we have had a wonderful day. Today we went to Gozo on the ferry. We were put all day and it was great. We went to a place called the Citadel which is a fort that is over 1000 years old. The knights used to guard there, it was amazing. Then we had some pastizzi!!! They were only 40 cents and they were DELICIOUS!! Then we got back onto the ferry and went to the blue lagoon. Oh my goodness it was beautiful. We had a brilliant swim and the water was so warm. It was funny because all the Europeans stay very close to the shore and don't swim properly. We all went out into the deep water and it was so good!
    KATRINA - Found some great places today and will explore more tomorrow. Our hotel pool is amazing and the view is beautiful. Just a shame that out the front the nightclub scene is wild. A bit like the gold coast. Never mind, there is plenty of other stuff to see!

    KATRINA - Jude has already put on lost of weight because he keeps eating cakes for breakfast every day.
    He got in big trouble because he got this as his SECOND plate of cakes for breakfast yesterday.
    KATRINA- This is in Valletta, the capital of malta
    JOE - I'm still annoyed I missed that cannon shot
    KATRINA - I think people think David is a Maltese guy with his tan. People keep asking him for directions 😆😆😆    Læs mere

    KATRINA - In Paris!
    KATRINA - We are a bit overwhelmed because everyone is so french lol!!! We only got here to our hotel at 6.45 pm. We went for a quick walk then had dinner and a couple of wines in the hotel bar. They have the rugby on the big screen and it's pretty cool. A big day of exploring tomorrow!
    KATRINA - I can't believe it! We came to the famous bookshop in Paris called Shakespeare and Co.
    And Abbey bumped into her best friend!
    I am so mind blown!
    It's true. We knew she was in Paris, but in the same shop on the same day at the same time, and they only let a certain number of people in at once. I can't believe it
    Also we had crossiants this morning 🤤🤤
    DAVID - FYI - I've had at least 1 crossiant every morning we've been away.    Læs mere

    And cards while we watch the Wallabies.

    DAVID - Morning Louise, not yet. We're still in London, we are packing now and will head to the airport in a few hours.

    KATRINA - We are good, but we are getting very tired now. We all up very early this morning, we are catching the train to Galway. We will stay there for two nights and then we will go to the family. I think we all starting to get ready to come home. Lol
    KATRINA - Mum I know you will appreciate this!! Yum!

    KATRINA - I will send pics of Lucy and Rosemary tomorrow. A bit of bad news.. Rosemary had a stroke 3 weeks ago and Lucy had to rush over early. Rosemary is ok, but not the same. It is a bit of a worry. We are all giving her lots of love and attention . It is very sad
    KATRINA - It is Thursday morning here, we leave tonight. We are looking forward to being home xx
    KATRINA - Hi Family, we are at Dublin airport getting ready for the big flight home. Looking forward to seeing you all, we have all had a wonderful time but we are ready to come home and see you all. WE MISS YOU!!! I will check in my phone when we get to Dubai, but after that we won't be able to be contacted. Samantha we will see you at the airport xxx
