  • Clubrooms Gatwick North

    April 9, 2025 in England ⋅ ⛅ 10 °C

We’re thoroughly enjoying our stay in the club rooms. We had a stroke of luck and discovered a hidden section. The table service food was delicious, and it was definitely worth the cost. We’ll definitely be returning.Read more

  • Baku apartment

    April 9, 2025 in Azerbaijan ⋅ ⛅ 11 °C

Got upgraded for free in our apartment to a large one at the top with views of the flame towers. We’ve had whole apartments that were the same size as the living room alone. Perfect location as well, right near the water side and the old town with plenty around us.Read more

  • Lunch stop on the tour

    April 11, 2025 in Azerbaijan ⋅ ⛅ 11 °C

Surprisingly nice and fairly cheap lunch. Taken to a lovely buffet restaurant with traditional food and tea. Sat with some of the other people on our tour and chatted over lunch.

  • Sun in Baku

    April 12, 2025 in Azerbaijan ⋅ ☀️ 12 °C

The sun finally came out for our last day in Baku. So we went for a walk and went on the funicular up to the flame towers. There was a lovely park up there with a viewing platform over the city. When we went to find food in the mall we managed to get both of these large pizzas for a total of £5.80! Then found chimney cakes at the really random spring festival celebration we found with lots of stalls set out.Read more

  • Flight to Tbilisi

    April 13, 2025 in Azerbaijan ⋅ 🌬 11 °C

You can tell we are used to budget airlines because on this flight which was supposed to take an hour not only did we have comfortable seats in a 2 by 2 configuration but we also got given a drink and lunch for free! Also despite the flight listed as 1 hour 10, although it did leave late, it only took 45 minutes.Read more

  • Tour to Gudauri and other locations

    April 15, 2025 in Georgia ⋅ 🌧 5 °C

Jinvali, Ananuri, and Gudauri were some of the sights we visited. Although some of them were pretty, it rained heavily most of the day. Gudauri, a mostly closed ski resort, was beautiful with snow but felt too long with nothing to do. At least it felt warmer there. Overall, it was a very long day and not the best of our trip.Read more

  • Tbilisi botanical gardens

    April 17, 2025 in Georgia ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C

Up the hill to the Mother of Georgia statue and then over the other side to the best botanical garden I have ever been to. Completely natural with extra plants added. Absolutely beautiful.

  • Mtatsminda park and funicular

    April 17, 2025 in Georgia ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

The tallest point in Tbilisi offering a fantastic view where you can even see the snow topped mountains in the background and a very steep funicular. Weirdly with an amusement park at the top of it. Beautiful sunny day finally so time for very cheap ice creams!Read more

  • Flight home

    April 18, 2025 in Georgia ⋅ ☀️ 17 °C

We departed in the afternoon, allowing us to enjoy the view and soak up some sunshine in Tbilisi. Our journey included two flights: the first was a 2.5-hour trip to Istanbul, where we had a complimentary seat in our row, a main meal, and entertainment screens. We even managed to play Mario Kart on the Switch. Afterward, we experienced a hectic dash through Istanbul Airport, needing to pass through security and discard our water. We were frustrated, as we only had 50 minutes to catch our next flight, which had been moved up by 10 minutes. Despite the rush and the airport’s tight security, we made it in plenty of time, thanks to the flight being displayed as a transfer on our previous flight. The final flight lasted 4.5 hours, with another meal served, and we finally arrived home in the late evening, though it felt later due to the UK being 3 hours behind.

Would definitely fly with Turkish airlines and Azerbaijan airlines again, far better for short and medium haul than any of the UK based on budget airlines.
