Busy day today. Off early for a glacier hike, complete with crampons and ice pick. Then a more sedate boat tour on a glacial lagoon. We made our contribution to glacial erosion by eating some ice.

We checked out Akureyi today - Iceland's second city, avoiding the toll tunnel by taking a 15 minute scenic mountain drive. Whale watching was great as the sun was out as were a couple of humpback.Meer informatie

About 2 km down a tiny gravel drive, we checked into the four bedroom guesthouse Kolkuos with stunning views. And discovered a new drink. Malty but sweet - it's apparently an Iceland classic.

White water rafting from Bakkaflot down the West Glacial Canyon. Amazing. Hot chocolate from a hot spring. Why take a kettle? My swimming needs a little work though.
