Busy day today. Off early for a glacier hike, complete with crampons and ice pick. Then a more sedate boat tour on a glacial lagoon. We made our contribution to glacial erosion by eating some ice.

As it turns out, bubbling pools of sulphur are really, really smelly. So much so, that you feel the urge to bathe in the stuff. Very surreal to see people outside bathing in hot milky water. Felt less Czytaj więcej

We checked out Akureyi today - Iceland's second city, avoiding the toll tunnel by taking a 15 minute scenic mountain drive. Whale watching was great as the sun was out as were a couple of humpback. Czytaj więcej

About 2 km down a tiny gravel drive, we checked into the four bedroom guesthouse Kolkuos with stunning views. And discovered a new drink. Malty but sweet - it's apparently an Iceland classic.

White water rafting from Bakkaflot down the West Glacial Canyon. Amazing. Hot chocolate from a hot spring. Why take a kettle? My swimming needs a little work though.
