Beautiful but hot Caribbean city that was where the Spanish treasure fleets left South America for Spain. Most new tall buildings are white and along a spit of land enlarge by landfill. The Old City, inside the walls retains it's historic character. The first pic looks across the bay towards the newer area along the coast. The second pic is the clocktower that is a symbol for Cartagena. Then a section of the city wall and the Old Town at night. I was here for the festival honoring Maria where many candles are lit; there is a procession and dancing in the streets in traditional dress.Read more
