    Pre-Incan salt works now operated by the community of Maras, hence the name. They have been making salt here for thousands of years. This is not a mine. It is a natural salt spring where volcanically warmed salt laden water flows out of a single spring. The salt water is directed to various basins where the water evaporates and crystalized salt is harvested. The first 3 pics are various views over the drying operation.
