    Dhaka

    November 27, 2019 in Bangladesh ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

Capital of Bangladesh. There is an old and a new Dhaka. Most of what's interesting is in the old city. However, a few are worth noting from the new. 1st is the Bangladeshi Parliament building designed by the famous architect, Louis Kahn. 2nd is the monument to the language martyrs. Years back when there was east and west Pakistan, the west wanted the east to adopt Urdu, the language of the West as the common language. The east resisted, with a small war resulting. Eventually, they split into 2 countries, with Bangla as the official language here. You can see why the country is so named. 4rd is a look over part of the city from the wall of the unfinished 17th century fortress. 4th is one of the buildings within the fortress. 5th is a temple to Kali. Last is the main room at the University of Dhaka where students are sitting for an exam.Read more
