Morning stroll and Budhanilkantha Temple

This morning, we woke to clearing skies. Spent the morning walking to Budhanilkantha Temple, home to Nepal’s largest stone statue of Lord Vishnu. Reclining gracefully on a bed of snakes in the center of a pond, the five-meter-long granite figure was carved from a single rock and dates back to the Lichchhavi period.

After a leisurely walk over what locals affectionately call “Nepali flat” (read: uphill!), we’re now resting and looking forward to spending the afternoon by the pool, followed by a relaxing massage.Read more
