Getting into some serious mountains

Just finished day 5 of the trek. We don’t get to EBC for another 7 days. We are doing a longer circuitous route via Gokyo Lakes and Cho La pass. Yesterday was brutal. Hiked 16km over 8 hours ( with many stops) gaining 800 metres in elevation. Nelle has a bad head cold and hit the wall so I ended up humping her backpack as well for about 3 hours up a massive mountain. We’re at about 4500 metres now and it is getting noticeably harder with physical exertion. We were in Dole yesterday and Machermo tonight.
