An enormous Benedictine monestary maintained since the 1500s, the buildings burned to the rock walls in 1951. The brothers from the famous Monte Casino house, who had to completely rebuild their house after WWII, joined with the Samos brothers and rebuilt Samos to the present condition. The World is Out There The Abbey was burned to the walls in 1951. The sister house from Monte Casino helped rebuild these Gothic arches.

The World is Out There This is the door to the ancient Romanesque church upon which the abbey is built. Note the Celtic rune suggesting an even earlier influence.

The World is Out There The Benedictines were known for their doctoring skills and were specifically sited here to assist Pilgrims in need. This is the apothecary or pharmacy.
