  • The Taj Mahal Was Collected

    6 février, Australie ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

Friday the 6th February we collected our new caravan - ARCTIC CAMPER Frost 15 Core. We chose the van at a caravan show in September - put our $100 down - paid the bigger deposit in October and were told January for delivery and they were spot on - we could not get there until 6th February. Outstanding service and exceptional van up to this point and we are extremely happy with our purchase.

We had to travel to Caboolture and we were lucky to have made it there by the 10am appointment time because we happened to be 1 minute behind the big accident of the highway where a truck with a huge excavator hit the overpass bridge at Forest Glen and smashed the bridge with such force that it knocked the excavator of the truck into the ditch in the middle of the highway and the truck separately landing there as well. A car was covered in concrete dust but no broken windscreen - but how terrifying would that be to be the cars directly behind what happened. We parted the middle lane and tow truck after tow truck went through and the highway traffic response team - the cars in front of us moved to one side and we followed them through to the other side of the bridge as the police arrived and shut the highway behind us. I wanted out of there because I honestly wasn't sure the bridge would not fall down.

We then collected our caravan with a three hour hand over - such amazing service - so much to take in - I am sure we will be calling them a few times to ask what they said - but I tried hard to focus and take notice so I remembered the important information.

BUT while there I find out my daughter and granddaughters had been in an accident when someone went through traffic lights while she was going through on a green light - wrote her car of - air bags - obviously terrifying and though no one was really badly hurt she was cleared of a broken wrist but it is badly bruised and also her shoulder and she is currently very sore. It was an interesting morning and I have to say I feel so thankful that no one was seriously hurt in either of these incidents. My daughter is insured - strangers were extremely helpful with one lady even waiting the entire time and driving her home and a new possible friendship being made.

So with both lanes of the highway closed to go home and massive redirection of Sunshine Coast traffic, which is insane on a Friday at the best of times - we decided to go home through Kilcoy and Nanango and on to Kilkivan and home.

Great drive home and a little time on some country roads to get a feel for The Taj Mahal and welcome her to our family.

Attached is a few photos of our collection and parked at home when we got home late yesterday.

  • Setting Up The Canopy

    31 janvier, Australie ⋅ ⛅ 31 °C

Mick and our friend Matt installed the storage drawers into the canopy last weekend. They look fantastic and will keep everything orderly and easy to get to.

A few hiccups but in the end they did a fantastic job and it looks amazing and is very user friendly.

Beer fridge is secure. This fridge was my parents and I took Dad to buy this fridge so many years ago before they took it in their car and travelled to the Kimberley. Tasmania. Cape York. And Cameron's Corner.... now we are using it for a drinks fridge in the car. I love having their memories with me travelling the country.
