• Venice - Murano, Burano

    15. maj, Italien ⋅ 🌧 12 °C

Woke up to rain this morning. It’s just a drizzle but unfortunately no blue skies. We decided we were still going to the islands today. Forecast for more rain tomorrow anyway. We bought a 3 day pass this morning which will get us everywhere we need to go. Also downloaded an App CheBateo. It’s a great app and gives us timetables and ferry numbers etc so we won’t get lost. lol. Very user friendly thank goodness. 🙏 We stopped at Murano first. This island is known for its glass making/blowing. We went in an old church to watch a demonstration and were the only two there, so we got a private demo. lol incredible how pliable glass is in extreme heat. It was very interesting to watch, and it was also toasty warm in there out of the cold wet weather. There were probably 100 ships selling glass products. Everything you could imagine really. There was also the odd souvenir shop and a few restaurants/cafes along the main canal. We then hopped on another ferry for Burano. It was about a 30 minute ride from Murano. Wow, it’s the most colourful place we’ve seen so far. Chefchaouen was bright but basically blue, Cinque Terre was bright but nowhere near as bright as Burano. It would have looked even prettier if we had blue skies to go with it. We stopped in at a lovely restaurant for some delicious gnocchi. Just what we needed to keep us going. We walked the streets and canals until we were ready to make our way back. A couple of ferries later and we were back near our hotel. I forget to mention we have no hot water. Something went wrong with the whole building and they’ve been scrambling all day to get it sorted. We’re hoping by the time we get home from dinner we’ll have piping hot water for a well deserved shower. 🙏🤞Læs mere
