We had an early buffet breakfast this morning before disembarking in Athens. I’d organised a driver to take us to our apartment in the city. We arrived around 9am and couldn’t check in yet but were able to leave it suitcases and backpacks there which was great because that left us free to do whatever we wanted until we could check in. We walked up to the Acropolis and were told the next time slot available was 10.45am so we booked in to go back at 7pm. We walked up a hill made of very slippery stone. There were stairs to our left but I decided to go straight up where I was. Peter made a smart arse comment saying” I’d take the stairs if I were you“. Meaning I’d probably slip over. He’d no sooner finished that sentence when I heard a scuffle and splat behind me, then him laughing. Peter slipped and fell. As soon as I turned around I said, THAT is karma!! 😂 I’m sure people were judging me because I was laughing at him and not checking he was ok. He was fine. We walked back down into town and wandered through streets of flea markets (didn’t see a single flea), shops, markets and ancient ruins scattered amongst each other. We rested our feet for a bit before heading back up the steep hill that Acropolis sits on. It was a great time to go as we were in in just over 5 minutes, compared to the long line that was there earlier in the day. We spent about an hour up there and were headed back down to grab some dinner when it was my turn. I fell down some stairs made of the same slippery stone that brought Peter down. It bloody hurt. 😢 I hobbled down to town and we found a nice restaurant for dinner. After dinner we headed back to our apartment, which was right in the middle of everything and also had a spectacular view of Acropolis from the balcony. 👌Read more
