The day has finally arrived to leave Toulouse for Porto 😃
Packing was completed after repacking my suitcase 3 times to ensure it was not overweight, and I could fit my CPAP machine to be transported in my suitcase between stages.
I took a beer, but it's awful, tastes like water.
My FND is so far causing some leg weakness as I adapt to being in an airport full of people.Read more

The path out of Vila do Condé was super quiet, but as I approached Povoa de Varzim then I passed lots of people walking along the promenade.

My most difficult day so far.
I really struggled with my FND symptoms between 5km and 11km today. I go from walking at 5km / hour to 2 km / hour when the symptoms hit me and struggle to coordinate my walking.
The weather was light rain showers during the morning, and it improved in the afternoon.
The last 4km were the best part of the day as this was through the woodland and not on small roads.Read more

It was a rainy day today with no one seen on the path that I took.
Sometimes, the path just disappeared, and other times, it simply was not visible.
I had a strange moment when I went to the Spa in the Hotel. I tried to swim and I had forgotten how to! After 4 or 5 attempts, I managed to swing a short length of the pool.Read more

Difficult start to the day. I had to take a rest after breakfast as the resturant was too noisy and busy which caused me to struggle to walk.

I waited over an hour at the departure point for the ferry, and because of the low water, it started from elsewhere.
Eventually, someone arrived to tell us the new departure point, and I paid again to be taken across into Spain.

A walk up the steps and through A guarda before ascending on to the route with a great view of the ocean.
Varied terrain today with a great path by the ocean, walking through short woodland areas.

A nice walk in light drizzle all morning.
There were many kilometres walking by the road followed by a nice climb up a hill.
The route into Biaona also included a steady incline for 1-2 kilometres.
I suffered with my achelies tendon after 1 km and periodically, it caused me issues.
However I was able to complete the stage without too much discomfort.Read more

What a day! 23km and 653m of ascent.
The guidebook suggested a detour along quiet country lanes by following the green arrows after 8km.
Unfortunately, my detour missed the green arrows, and I proceeded to climb and descend many times without seeing a green arrow :-(
Fortunately, Google came to the rescue and directed me along the main routes with yet more climbs and no shade.

Horrible first 5 km walking through Vigo before ascending a steep hill to reach the woodland walkway.
It's was really peaceful and nice views of the ocean from the woodland path before descending into Redonela for the end of the day.Read more

Today was the hottest day so far, reaching around 27c in the afternoon.
The morning started with leaving through the streets of Rendondela before climbing again to the path through the woodland.
The path offered nice views of the ocean, but the acsents and decents are steep like in the mountains.
I had lunch in a nice restaurant in Arcade, and the pulpo was delicious:-). After lunch I relaxed on the beach.Read more

Delightful paths through the woodland and some steep climbs with slippery rocks.

An afternoon stroll around Pontevedra.
The atmosphere in the squares was really nice, with everyone taking lunch.
Outside the main historical centre, Pontevedra is quiet and lots of untasteful graffiti spoiling the ancient city.
The Spanish meal times do not work for a hungry pilgrim :-(. So I took a take out pizza and ate in the sun under the palm trees in the park 😀Read more

A pleasant walk out of pontevedra by the river before joining the main route after several kilometres.
Unknown to be when I reached the railway crossing, the route splits into two. I took the spiritual varient instead of the main route :-(
I realised my mistake after 20 mins of walking uphill and retraced my steps back onto the main route.
There are limited provisions on the route, so I was quite relieved to find a bar selling food after 12kms.
After lunch, the rain started, but it was a nice 5 km walk to my Hostel for the night.Read more
