Paris CBD and Montmartre

Arrived Paris and saw all the usual places. They are still dismantling structure from the Olympics, and it interesting to see where these events took place. The building with the gold dome is the Hotel des Invaildes. King Louis XIV commissioned this in 1670 in order to provide accommodation for soldiers. Napoleon's remains are buried here. Off to Montmartre, which is situated on one of the 7 hills surrounding Paris. Bascilique de Sacre-de Coeur stands high on the hill. We chose to use the cable car instead of the steps.
