• Little Roper - Mataranka

    May 15, 2023 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 23 °C

It was our second time at Mataranka but this time we stayed somewhere a little different, it was called Little Roper and it was lots of fun.

We got up every morning and played with our friends while we were waiting for Johnny cakes and Billy tea. Des the camp owner makes Johnny cakes every morning for breakfast and they’re bit like doughnuts.

After we have breakfast, Des rings a bell to let us know that the animal holding is starting, so we all run over. The first thing that he gets out are Blue Tongue Lizards, they’re all different sizes but my favourite are the really big ones. After the lizards he gets out Snappy Turtles and you have to hold them a certain way otherwise they snap at your fingers. My favourite was the snakes. I was a bit scared the first day so I didn’t hold them, but the next day I put on my big boy pants and held an Olive Python. They were really wrigley and it felt super weird in your hands. After the little snakes he brings out Parrot the really big snake, Parrot is named Parrot because it snuck out of its cage and ate their pet Parrot, but then it got stuck in the Parrot cage and couldn’t get out because it was too fat.

After the animals, we organised to go to the hot springs with our friends. We like going to Bitter Springs because there’s lots of logs to swim under and there’s a tree jump at the end.

I had lots of fun at the Little Roper because there was lots of kids and lots of activities to do.
