What a Whopper

It was our first day out fishing on the Daily River, and it could not have gone better.

Dad landed the first Barra, but it was under size. After that we could not hook another one. We decided to troll through one last snag. On the first troll dad hooked a big one, but unfortunately it spat the hook. On the second troll I had the rod in my hand ready, as we trolled through I hit lots of timber with my lure, then my line started singing, I was on! At first dad thought I was snagged, but when we saw the flash of the fish, Lachie and I both swore as it was a monster.

Once we got it into the boat, we measured it and it was a whopping 86cm. As boats drove by I held it up so they could see my catch.

When we got back to camp, I carried my fish from the boat to the caravan and the camp to show Mum. It was so heavy, I felt like my arms were going to fall off. After I showed mum I had to help dad clean it, it was stinky but lots of people came over and had a look.
