  • Crab Claw Island

    16 sierpnia 2023, Australia ⋅ 🌙 26 °C

After catching some crab, we decided to go to Crab Claw to relax by the pool.

We decided to put the boat in because lots of people said it was really good fishing, and they weren’t wrong. We woke up bright and early to put the boat in and when we got out there we went to our first mark, but we didn’t get any fish. We moved to another mark started getting heaps of fish, so we drop the anchor. By the time we were done, we would’ve caught at least 20 fish between us, but only one was legal.

On the first, and last day, we were at Crab Claw we went out to the restaurant. When you sat down, you could see the peacocks and joey’s eating food scraps over the edge of the balcony.

The only bad thing there was the midges.

  • Cape York Week 1

    26 sierpnia 2023, Australia ⋅ 🌬 24 °C

We are heading up to the Cape with Uncle Ben, Tom and Linda. The first place we stayed was in Cooktown and it was called Endeavour River Escape. While we were driving up there, everyone was talking about escaping the rain and it jinxed us and it rained the whole time we were in Cooktown.

Day 3: (Cooktown to Morehead river)
When we got to camp Lachie and I put a bait trap in and caught heaps of bait fish. We used the bait fish to catch little Herring and jungle perch.

Day 4: (Moorhead river to Coen river)
We stayed at Coen River for three nights, and it was so much fun because we got a spot on the river right next to the rope swing. The first night we stayed at Coen River uncle Ben got his TV out and we watched The Meg 2.

Day 7: (Coen River to Weipa Caravan Park)

We stay at Weipa caravan park for one night and we went swimming and played on the playground the whole time.

Day 8: Weipa Caravan Park to Pennefather Beach
We stayed at Pennefather Beach for three nights, and while we were there, we drove Jared’s car, went fishing, saw a turtle laying eggs and made a rope swing.

Day 11: Pennefather Beach to Dulhunty River Crossing
After Pennefather, it was our first day on the old Telegraph track. Our first river crossing was Palm Creek, it was like gunshot, but luckily there was a chicken track. After a little bit more 4X4 we made it to our campsite, and it was on the river, so everyone went for a swim.

Day 12: Dulhunty to Canal Creek

When we drove up to Gunshot it looked so much different from last time we were here, but the biggest difference was there was no longer a chicken track. After watching, lots of people go down gunshot and after a lot of debating Jared and Dad finally decided to go down gunshot. After prepping the cars Lachie and Dad went down in the Triton, Jared went down in the Hilux and Mum and I were safe and sound filming. After going down gunshot we pulled up at turtle pond and there was so many turtles and Jared was catching them with his hands. After an eventful day we finished it off with a swim at Fruit Bat Falls. • Cape York - The Telegraph Track Day 2

    7 września 2023, Australia ⋅ 🌬 29 °C

Day 13: Twin Falls, Sams creek (flooded), water crossings, log bridge, Nolan’s crossing

We started our day with a refreshing swim at Twin Falls. My favourite thing about Twin Falls was the rock jumps. When we left Twin Falls we knew that we were in for a big day of four wheel driving. As we pulled up to our first water crossing, Dad drove straight through and got bogged, the water was halfway up the doors, so the car was flooding quickly. After getting Tom around the chicken track and ready to pull us out the water was over the back seat, when Lachie and I open the doors all the toys went flying out the door with the water. We went through lots more water crossings, but none of them were bad until one where Dad had to winch all the cars across in the rain. We also had to cross a log bridge and it was so sketchy that it bowed when we went over it. We finish the day at Nolan’s. Czytaj więcej

    Day 15, 16, 17, 18
After making it to The Tip, we needed a few days to chill out, so we stayed at Alau Beach Camp for three days. While we were there uncle Ben caught a shark, we baked pies, went swimming in the pool and watched movies on uncle Ben’s TV.

Day 19: Alau Beach camp to Jardine River Ferry

Day 20: Jardine River Ferry to Weipa
The car broke down and Uncle Ben had to tow us to the ferry. Dad and Uncle Ben fixed the muffler and we could leave.

    Day 21: Weipa to Mapoon
We caught up with the girls again at Weipa, it was fun. Then we went and camped at Mapoon Beach and did some shark fishing.

    Day 22: Home

  • Babinda Harvest Festival

    16 września 2023, Australia ⋅ ⛅ 24 °C

When we got back from the cape the next day was that the Babinda Harvest Festival. We went and picked up our friend Peyton and we were excited to go on the rides.

While we were at the harvest festival we had lots of fun:
    Feeding the baby animals,
    Roding a pony,
Watching the tractor pull (very boring),
    Climbing the Rockwall,
    Playing Lasertag
    And got our face painted.

My favourite thing was the Lasertag because the guns had sights on top of them and it was lots of fun shooting Lachie.

  • Hinchinbrook Island

    20 września 2023, Australia ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

We finally got back out on the boat, after weeks of rain. Our first stop was Hitchinbrook Island to see Zoe falls, which you can only get to by boat.

It was a short walk to the waterfall, when we got there we jumped in straight away and the water was beautiful. We took our goggles, so we could look around the water which was really deep and crystal clear. After we got out, Lachie and I saw that there was lots of fish. Lachie being Lachie he killed a march fly and tried to feed it to the fish and they loved it. After feeding the fish March flies, we walked up to the top to go for a swim in the crystal clear infinity pool. After swimming for a couple of hours we headed back to the boat for some lunch.

Sadly, we had to go and find somewhere to sleep and re-fuel the boat for our next adventure.

  • Bramble Reef

    21 września 2023, Great Barrier Reef ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

We woke up early, so we could head out to Bramble Reef for a day of fishing and snorkelling.

On the way out to Bramble Reef, mum spotted a pod of dolphins, they were so playful and they were following our boat.

Once we got out to the reef, we could not wait to start fishing. We all were catching heaps of little fish, but nothing big. After fishing for a while, we headed into the reef for a snorkel and spear fish. I was so excited to go spear fishing, I jumped straight in even though there were a few sharks lurking around. After two hours of spear fishing and getting nothing, mum and dad dragged us out of the water, as we had to go find somewhere to camp for the night.

On the way back to Orpheus Island, mum spotted some bust ups. So we quickly turned around and headed back towards them, while dad set up the rods. It only took a few minutes of trawling and we hooked on to a Spanish mackerel. It was only 80cm (a baby), but it was still delicious.

We spent the night anchored at Orpheus Island. Dad was especially happy because he finally caught a mackerel in our new boat.

  • Orpheus and Pelorus Island

    22 września 2023, Australia ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C

It was our last day out on the boat, so we went and explored Orpheus and Pelorus Island.

On Orpheus Island, we went and explored Yanks Jetty. When we got there Mum got some bread out to feed the fish whileLachie and I were snorkelling. There were so many fish coming out from under the jetty that Lachie and I could barely see each other.

After a snorkel, we got told to go check out Pelores Island 🏝️ because it was good spearfishing. I wasted no time putting my spearfishing gear on and jumped straight in. Within five minutes I had shot my first fish, it was only a baby, but Dad kept it and cleaned it. I cooked it and ate it for lunch.

After three days on the boat and making it to 3 different islands and out to the Great Barrier Reef, sadly it was time to head back to Jared’s. Everyone can’t wait for our next adventure.

  • Big Day

    24 września 2023, Australia ⋅ ⛅ 21 °C

    What an action packed day.

It all started when I woke up to gunshots, so I quickly jumped out of bed and then saw Dad and uncle Ben dragging a deer 🦌. Once I saw they weren’t shooting any more deer I ran down and met them at uncle Ben’s caravan. Once Dad and uncle Ben got the deer up to Jared’s I got the excavator ready, and helped them string it up. After a very boring process of Dad and Jared butchering the front half of the deer, we had to move the excavator into the shade so that the meat didn’t get hot. After removing the guts, I helped Jared butcher some deer for Odie. After we were finished, butchering the deer Jared taught us how to use the excavator. after using the excavator for a bit, it was time to go and get some firewood so we could boil up the deer head. While we were going to get firewood, Jared let Lachie and I drive his 10t truck. Lachie drove it on the way there and I drove it on the way back, but I had to drive it on the road. While, we were driving, I pulled off the road to let some old people past, and they gave me and Jared the dirty face, so as I drove off I started chasing them in the truck.

We finished the day off with nice a relaxing swim in Jared’s secret swimming hole.

Mum took Lachie, Payton and I to Sugar World.

When we got there, we put our stuff down and went straight on the water slides. There were three different types of water slides, one that you raced on mates, one that you went down on tubes, and one that you went down on your body. After going on all of the slides, we decided to go play putt putt. The putt putt was a bit boring, so after one round, we went and played on the slides for the rest of the day. After about six hours of non-stop playing, it was time to head home. Czytaj więcej

  • Green Island

    4 października 2023, Australia ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

As we pulled up to Green Island, it was so beautiful that we immediately started to think that we might stay here instead of going to Fitzroy Island.

As we were dropping the anchor, Lachie and Dad spotted a giant fish. After the anchor was down we all put our masks on and jumped in straight away. When we saw the big fish, we realised it was a GT and it was over a metre long. After I saw the GT, I jumped out, but mum kept snorkelling and apparently saw five turtles.

We walked around the whole island!!! It was only 1.6k. After we explored the island some more we went and got some chips for lunch and went for a swim in the pool.

We spent the rest of the day playing on the air mattress and swimming around.

When we got back to Green Island, we put our wetsuits on and went out snorkelling. We snorkelled for about an hour and probably saw six or seven turtles, and they were all really friendly.

After snorkelling, we blew up the air mattress and played on it for the rest of the day, and had lots of fun playing in the surges.

As we walked through Marine World to see the crocodiles, we walked past, the anemones enclosures with all the incy wincy clownfish. After looking at all the crocs, we finally saw Cassius, the largest crocodile in captivity. Cassius was 5 1/2 m long and super fat.

After having some chips, it was time to head back. We were all a bit nervous because it was really rough, but we made it home safe and sound.

  • Dad‘s birthday🥳

    9 października 2023, Australia ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

Lachie and I woke up bright and early and gave Dad his birthday hug, and then he surprised us by telling us that we’re going to the cable park.

When we got to the cable park, we got our gear and raced over to the start. Because we were beginners the lady told me and Lachie to start off on the knee board . After going around a couple of times, we swapped over to beginner boards, which are basically wake boards, but they only had straps over your toes. After falling off a lot and only making it around the full loop twice our time was up.

On the way back, we stopped to get some Vietnamese pork rolls for dad‘s birthday dinner. The next day, Dad was super sore and didn’t want to go wake boarding for another week.

  • Hidden Falls

    13 października 2023, Australia ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

One day, Mum and Dad surprised us by taking us to the hidden waterfall. We thought it was only going to be an hour there and an hour back, but it ended up being three hours to get to the top. While we were walking there, the only way you knew you were going in the right direction was because there was pink ribbons, but we got lost a couple of times.

When we got to the bottom of a large waterfall Lachie and I thought we were finally there, but you had to walk up a really steep hill to get to the real waterfall. While Mum and Dad walked up to the top of the waterfall, Lachie and I stayed down the bottom and played.

On the walk back, it was a lot quicker because we knew where we were going. When we got back to the car we went for a nice refreshing swim.

  • Franklin Islands Day 3

After swimming around and jumping off the rocks, Dad needed our help rigging up the coconut cutter 2000. After a lot of effort, we got about 15 coconuts.

After enjoying some delicious coconuts, we decided to go explore another bay which was right around the corner. We swam in the warm water, while Mum made sausages for lunch.

We zipped back to the Franklin Islands, where we finished our cubbies and swam until sunset.

Unfortunately we didn’t keep it because they’re not very good eating.

We spent the day in Butterfly Bay. First off we went snorkeling, in the reef and I saw some of the biggest anemones I had ever seen.

We liked it so much that we decided to spend the night.

  • Blue Beast

    22 października 2023, Australia ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

    Day 2:

Everyone was excited to go to Mantaray Bay to try and find George the ginormous blue beast, but first we stopped for a quick fish.

As we pulled up to the spot everyone drop their lines and immediately got bites, but they were all little fish. After fishing for half an hour, and only getting little bites, Dad ended up getting a Tricky Snapper, and a nannygai in 2 drops.

After fishing, we pulled into Mantaray Bay searching for George, the Ginormous Māori Wrasse. We were greeted by Batfish which we fed and patted while Dad cleaned the fish.
After eating all the fish, we moved to a different mooring, and instantly George appeared. After spotting him in the water, everyone rushed to get pilchards and their snorkels, so we could jump in. I was a bit scared, but I jumped in anyway and fed him straight away. We swim with George for over an hour feeding him and the GT.

After fishing and swimming with George, this was one of my favourite days yet, but we still had five more to go.

  • Hill Inlet

    Day 3:
We woke up early and left Mantaray Bay and started trolling. After about 15 minutes of trolling I hooked up, but unfortunately it got off before I could get the rod out of the rod holder. We decided to keep trolling but we never got any more hits.

As we pulled around the corner, there it was, Hill Inlet known for its pristine white sand and crystal clear blue water, and they weren’t wrong I have never seen so many different shades of blue. Lachie and I jumped in and only got out to get more toys because the water was the perfect temperature.

The sand was covered in marble crabs, so Lachie and I got to work collecting them in our toy boat. When we put the boat in the water, the marble crabs jumped overboard, and it was hilarious.

It such a beautiful place that we decided to stay the night, but we had to move further down the inlet so the boat didn’t end up dry because the tides were so big. Lachie and were so hot that when we moved down the inlet, we jumped in straight away, and when we jumped in our feet sunk straight down in the sand because it was so silky. While Lachie and I were in the water we started making underwater sand storms which looked really funny on camera.
