    Day 1

    Excellent taxi service to the airport. Hope the driver wasn't delayed getting to the pub. Arrived at hotel at dusk so photos not too exciting today. Megan - I AM going to have my first ever cocktail this hols-watch this space !!!!!!!!Leia mais

    Day 2

    Today started with a late leisurely breakfast outside. I was tempted by some cooked breakfast - musrooms/tomatoes/peppers. I had to draw the line at brocolli on offer. ( No broccoli in the swimmimg pools either Megan!)

    Breakfast was followed by a long walk to find key places of interest ie somewhere for dinner. Found the biggest Spar supermarket I have ever seen - cheap drinks purchased and brought back to hotel.

    Fell asleep in the sun this pm (not publishing the photo Anne kindly took) and got a sunburnt face.

    Very scrummy dinner this evening by the harbour - cheese/sundried tomato/fig tortellini dish which was scrumptious but didn't photo well.    Leia mais

    Day 3

    A lazy day-finished our brunch just before 11am. Courgettes appeared on the breakfast menu today-couldn't face them.

    Then went for a long walk before sitting by the pool until about 6pm. Not plucked up courage to go in pool yet. Spoilt last year with a heated pool like a bath.

    Currently enjoying a soul night in hotel. Don't laugh at photos today!    Leia mais

    Day 4

    Very busy day today

    See photos to find out which vegetable turned up for breakfast today. Whilst I love this veg I only took one small nibble.

    We caught the 11.30 Dotto train today near hotel. Got off at the Marina and found a bar overlooking sea - had a Mojito! See photos. Don't think I'll be having another!

    Walked back to hotel along beach-put my feet in sea. Freezing! Sat by the pool until 7pm this evening. Anne had a swim-not hot enough for me.

    We ate in the hotel tonight as was told Arabic night veggie friendly. Food delicious especially as they forgot to charge us for mine!!!

    Hope Neil and Mel are fully briefed and ready to penguin on their trip.    Leia mais

    Day 5

    The breakfast vegetable today was cauliflower - I'm expecting peas tomorrow.

    Been to the police station this morning-don't panic! I was looking for tourist info which was in same office as police station. Couldn't work out if people were queuing to see police or tourist info. Took a couple of leaflets and left.

    Had to have the lock replaced on my room this pm
    . Waiting to hear about compensation for the inconvenience I have experienced. Watch this space-hoping for free dinner.

    Walked down to the marina tonight to our favourite restaurant. Scrummy meal followed by a debate ie walk back the long way round on the promenade or, take a short cut across the bay via beach. Went for the beach option.    Leia mais

    Day 6

    After breakfast (brocolli avoided again) a leisurely day with a walk to a bar overlooking sea-non alcoholic cocktail . Much nicer than the Mojito.

    Reading by the pool until nearly 7pm. Enjoyed our complimentary dinner this evening which was Asian themed-scrummy! Currently enjoying a Tina Turner tribute act.

    Day 7

    Our last full day. We leave the hotel at 6pm tomorrow evening.

    Anne and I have taken a liking to the way bread is served here with oil and salt. There is a salt farm down the road so we were a little surprised to see a certain type of salt on sale in the Spar store - see photo.

    The wind got up this pm. Anne was hit by an inflatible strawberry blown out of the swimming pool. No photographic evidence!    Leia mais

    Day 8 departure day - finished at home!

    V cloudy/windy this am. Lazy day not doing much (as usual)!

    Waiting in hotel for 6.30pm pick-up. We were picked up half an hour early so I didn't finish my daily penguin. Good trip home-no stop off in Portugal this time for fuel. Got to bed at 3.30am - surprisingly still awake.

    Now dreaming of my next hols. Byeeeeee! Mr B doing a good job of his Penguin.    Leia mais
