    To Cradle Mountain

    March 21, 2022 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

After a bit of a late start due to tyre puncture issues we made our way to cradle with a short detour to pick up chocolate covered raspberries at Christmas Hills Raspberry Farm. We also stopped at Van Diemans Ice Cremery which was under renovation last year and Kirk got a very interesting leatherwood honey and pepperberry icecream. After that was the fairly long drive out of Launcestone to Cradle mountain. Our accommodation this time was at Cradle Mountain Wilderness Village as where we normally stay at the discovery parks was booked out. There was so much room with two bedrooms split by quite an ample living/kitchen/dining area and your own private balcony with a table and chair set. There isn't an oven and they probably don't provide as many things to cook with as at Discovery parks but it was still very good and we were able to cook for our entire trip. We only had one cabin on either side but we did hear the road noise as we were facing the main road in and out of Cradle but this dwindled down to no noise in the evening. Once we reached Cradle and unpacked we drove up to the interpretation centre and did some of the short walks around there including the enchanted walk and the forest walk. We even saw an Echidna!Read more
