03.27.2024 Dehli to Agra, India Day 2

    March 27 in India ⋅ ⛅ 73 °F

We got to our room about 1:00 am this morning and literally crashed. What a long day yesterday was.
We have breakfast , repack and meet our guide and driver at 9:30. We drive about 3-4 hours to Agra where the Red Fort and Taj Mahal are located.
Upon leaving Delhi we saw many strange sights. The garbage is unreal. According to Siam there are 18 million people living in the city. The smells and air quality are overwhelming. Thank goodness for masks.
We arrived in Agra and checked into our hotel.
Agra is a city on the banks of the Yamuna river in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, about 230 kilometres (140 mi) south-east of the national capital ofDelhi. Its population is roughly 1.6 million, Agra is also known as the City of love.
We then toured the Red Fort. What a place.
Near the gardens of the Taj Mahal stands the important 16th-century Mughal monument known as the Red Fort of Agra. This powerful fortress of red sandstone encompasses, within its 2.5-km-long enclosure walls, the imperial city of the Mughal rulers. It comprises many fairy-tale palaces, such as the Jahangir Palace and the Khas Mahal, built by Shah Jahan; audience halls, such as the Diwan-i-Khas; and two very beautiful mosques.
The grand finale was sunset at the Taj Mahal. Never in our wildest dreams did we think we would see this.
Dinner and drinks with friends and then off to bed. Added a few pictures of life in Agra, India. This pretty lady wanted to show off her baby. She brought her to our vehicle so she could blow us kisses.
We have a very early morning.
