On 5/17 we journeyed south to Coburg to have service work done on the motorhome. Tires rotated, front end aligned and other maintenance/repair issues. Our home on wheels is now running and driving like a dream.😊
Friday the 20th we headed west to Winchester Bay RV Park for the Stallard Family Reunion (Randy's mom's side of the family) . The park is beautiful and is managed by Randy's cousin, Paul. It was wonderful reuniting with the Stallard clan....they really know how to party!

  • Lake Simtustus

    30 de junio de 2016, Estados Unidos ⋅ ☀️ 79 °F

After a week of fishing and partying we bid adieu to our camping buddies, and former neighbors, Leslie and Chad. Randy's mom and dad, Sharon and Larry, and our kids, Kelsie and Kyle as well as Kyle's girlfriend Kelly joined us for Father's Day. Weather wasn't great but we still managed to have a great time. My sister Marcia visited for two nights and prepared delicious meals for us... a perk of having a professional chef in the family! We also celebrated Randy's birthday... thanks for the boat mimosas and yummy dinners Kathy, Jim and Dick. Gorgeous scenery, fantastic fishing and awesome wildlife...a great kickoff to summer during our month at Lake Simtustus!Leer más

  • "Camp Monaco"

    20 de julio de 2016, Estados Unidos ⋅ ☀️ 72 °F

Back at Home Base in Boring for 3 nights then to Coburg Oregon for motorhome service and upgrades. New gas cooktop, residential refrigerator and shock absorbers installed! Ended up staying in Coburg over two weeks waiting for diagnosis, inspection and authorization by warranty company, parts delivery. We spent our days visiting and comiserating with our fellow RVers at "Camp Monaco", going to Eugene's excellent farmer's market, driving up the McKenzie River to Blue River Lake, buying bread at the Camas Country Mill Store and Bakery, shampooing and clipping Kuma and taking many walks. As always we met new friends during our stay including Rod, a former jet fighter pilot, and Mona, a Las Vegas singer, as well as Renee, a former winter site manager at Admunsen Station South Pole... some of the most interesting folks we've met during our travels.Leer más

  • Friends and Birthdays

    24 de julio de 2016, Estados Unidos ⋅ ☀️ 70 °F

Back to home base July 20th. Girls night out with Jan and Terri. Happy Hour with Gary and Barbara...good times with good friends. Met Logan, Jada and Brian's newest addition... a precious little guy. Randy went with Kyle when he bought his, new to him, 2013 Camry.
We celebrated Kelsie's 30th birthday on July 24th. Randy prepared some delicious ribs on his new smoker and Sharon made an awesome peanut butter chocolate cake... YUM 😋. We played gonadatoss, aka ladder ball, team Kelsie and Debbie lost but did manage to toss the balls into a tree.

Got an early start Monday morning and headed to the Fidalgo Bay RV Resort, parked the motorhome then took the ferry from Anacortes to Friday Harbor where our friends Gary and Carrie took us to their vacation home on beautiful Brown Island. We had a fantastic time hiking, kayaking, crabbing, visiting Wescott Bay as well as Roche and Friday Harbors and especially savoring Gary's delicious meals. We couldn't have had a better stay... good friends, good food, good drink, good times! Many thanks Gary and Carrie, you're the best!Leer más

  • Kamloops, British Columbia

    1 de agosto de 2016, Canadá ⋅ ⛅ 68 °F

We enjoyed a lovely ferry ride back to Anacortes, spent Friday night at Fidalgo Bay Resort, then were up early to cruise northeast to Kamloops. Headed to Costco for provisions... love the exchange rate😀$!
Sunday we took a walking tour of historic downtown Kamloops...😐 not too much going on as it's a national holiday and most shops and museums are closed. We did take an long bike ride on the Kamloops River Trail along the North and South Thompson Rivers through Pioneer, McArthur Island and Riverside parks, then treated ourselves to ice cream! A perfect day for exploring.
Monday we strolled through the Secwepemc Heritage Park and around the old Kamloops Indian Residential School. We'd hoped to tour the museum but it was closed for the holiday. We did talk to a security staff person who told us some hair-raising ghost stories about the school.

We finished our day of touring with a delicious japanese meal at Sushi Royal Tokyo.

  • Banff, Alberta

    6 de agosto de 2016, Canadá ⋅ ☀️ 57 °F

Rainy day. We strolled around Lake Louise Village, toured the Visitors Center then cruised down to Banff hoping the weather would break so we could bike the Legacy Trail... no such luck. Instead we visited the Cave and Basin National Historic Site home of a sulfer hot spring as well as an exhibit on Canada's National Parks then drove by Hotel Banff. Even with the rain everything is crazy busy with tourists. The Canadians have built landscaped overpasses over the park highway to allow animal crossing...nice☺️Leer más

  • Alberta Beach /Edmonton

    18 de agosto de 2016, Canadá ⋅ ⛅ 63 °F

Monday we headed out of the Canadian Rockies, east on the Yellowhead hwy, to the prairies of Alberta and our next destination at Alberta Beach Golf and RV Resort. We took a bike ride around Alberta Beach. Interesting fact: most folks keep their boats on lifts out on the lake vs mooring or docking, we were told due to wind and ice.
Tuesday we drove to Edmonton visited the Government House, rode our bikes along the Saskatchewan River, shopped at the West Edmonton Mall and provisioned at Costco. The mall was awesome with indoor water and amusement parks, 5+ food courts, skating rink and a huge Asian market with delicacies such as marinated pork bung and happy pig custard buns. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Edmonton_Mall
Wednesday we drove to Wabamun Lake, not much to see, and Spruce Grove.
Thursday we headed to downtown Edmonton wandered around Winston Churchill Square, where the Lebanese Festival was in full swing, then to Chinatown where we had lunch at a fantastic Italian bakery/deli.

Saturday morning we dropped by the visitors center, home of the world's biggest Dinosaur, then took a bike ride along the Red Deer River, went to the farmer's market and took a walking tour of downtown Drumheller where dinosaurs abound.
Saturday afternoon we drove southeast on Hwy 10, the Hoodoo Trail, with a turnoff onto 10X crossing 11 1-2 lane metal bridges. Traveled on hwy 10 to the Hoodoos, small beans compared to Bryce Canyon. Walked across the Rosedale Suspension Bridge before taking the Dinosaur Trail/hwys 837 & 838 and the Bleriot Ferry back to camp. A good day of exploration 😊
