Back to base camp in Boring, OR where we deep cleaned our home inside and out and caught up with friends and family. We took the kids to Night Fright at the Alberta Rose Theater with aerial performances by Night Flight and music by Fever... an excellent production. http://nightflightaerial.com/zoo
I took my mother-in-law, Sharon, to the annual fall bazaar at Epworth United Methodist Church where we enjoyed udon and inari sushi while visiting with friends and family. My Auntie Toku is here from Texas so we also spent time with her.
Tomorrow we'll go to Spirit Mt Casino for the night before heading to Depoe Bay for a week.Lue lisää

🎃🍸We toasted Halloween night with Dean's famous martinis at Spirit Mountain Casino. Arrived at Sea and Sand RV Park on Thursday. Took a nice beach walk and hosted dinner at our place. Friday we met Mark and Lynette at the Lincoln City Community Center for a couple hours of pickleball before meeting Dean and Lesa at the Tide Pool Pub for pizza. Cocktails at Snug Harbor Bar and Grill on Saturday followed by a beach walk and a delicious dinner at Lesa and Dean's.

Sunny skies continued for the rest of our stay at Sea and Sand. Mark and Lynette came over after pickleball on Monday and we enjoyed good conversation, snacks and a beautiful sunset. We went to Newport on Tuesday, took a walk along the historic bayfront and were entertained by the sea lions. Wednesday was spent shopping and taking a long beach stroll.
Tomorrow we head back to Boring for a little over two weeks before migrating south for the winter.Lue lisää

We had a beautiful drive back to Boring from the coast. Spent time visiting with friends and family, catching up on chores and playing pickleball at Hillendale Park in Oregon, City. We also went to The Dalles to attend my cousin's wedding. Congratulations Audrey and Mark! ❤️Lue lisää

We ended our stay at our home base with a whirlwind of activity...readying the motorhome for our trip south, doctor and dentist appointments, not to mention Thanksgiving and birthdays!
My sister Marcia, Randy and I hosted Thanksgiving at Auntie Aki and Uncle Kay's home. Thanks Kelsie for your help and Kay and Aki for your hospitality.
Friday we celebrated Marcia's 60th birthday with a delicious meal at HK Cafe. Saturday was my father in law, Larry's, birthday and Sharon and Larry's anniversary. We celebrated with dinner and a rousing game of 5 Crowns.
Tomorrow begins our annual migration south to Desert Hot Springs, California. 😎🌴Lue lisää

We spent Sunday night at "Camp Monaco" in Coburg, OR for some minor fixes to the motorhome the following day. Wanting to take advantage of the calm dry weather we began our southerly migration at 4:00 Monday afternoon. Stopped for a three hour cat nap south of Stockton before arriving Tuesday afternoon at our winter destination in Desert Hot Springs, CA at Catalina Spa and RV Resort...a long but uneventful drive.

Chad and Leslie were having a barbecue so we enjoyed dinner, a gorgeous sunset and connecting with friends old and new. Jim, Joy and Jess, who we met in Seaside, OR, are here. 😎🏜️
No lack of activities here at Cat Spa, wine tasting Wednesday, Dillon's for bingo on Thursday getting our daily exercise on the pickleball courts. Competed in a Round Robin tournament on Saturday where we didn't medal but enjoyed some good competition and had lots of fun, despite the wind. Thanks Jim and Angie for organizing the event. We've had a couple days of much needed rain which brought snow to the San Jacinto and San Bernardino Mountains = beautiful views. Last Sunday we went to the Indio Tamale Festival with Chad and Leslie. I only wish we had the gastric capacity to sample more than 4 tamales out of the hundreds that were there. https://www.tamalefestival.net/
Thursday we met cousin Steve at the Palm Desert Community Center for pickleball then had lunch with him and Carlene at Islands Restaurant. It was great seeing them and we're glad he's finally discovered the sport we love.
Friday Chad and Leslie hosted an open house at their beautiful new (to them) motorcoach.
Today had breakfast at Keedy's https://keedysfountaingrill.com/ and hit the College of the Desert Street Fair for some holiday shopping, listened to some talented musicians at Cat Spa's Sunday Jam and had friends over for an impromptu get together.
Another fun and busy week and I didn't even mention wine tasting and trivia night, well...I guess I just did.Lue lisää

Monday we joined a group from Cat Spa for some pickleball at the Sands RV and Golf Resort. Thanks to the "picklers" at the Sands for their hospitality. Tuesday we enjoyed the annual Christmas Cart Parade/Festival of Lights. Our friends Leslie, Chad, Jim & Angie had their bikes fully decorated. Wednesday I hiked the Magnesia Falls Canyon trail with Marc, Pattie and Karen. A bit more difficult than last year as some of the rock faces were a bit slick, but well worth the effort. This evening we had pizza at Bill's...delicious!
Tomorrow we head back to Oregon for the holidays.Lue lisää

Our long drive north to spend the holidays with family was uneventful. A little fog, a bit of wind, clear over the mountain passes.😊
We arrived at Auntie Aki and Uncle Kay's on Saturday, spent Sunday shopping for last minute gifts and food for Christmas Eve.
Monday Randy smoked six racks of baby back ribs while Aki, Kelsie and I readied the house for dinner. Marcia arrived with Mac and cheese, collard greens and nori rice crispy treats, Diana provided her clam dip, and Dave his famous carrot cake. A fabulous Christmas Eve of feasting, fellowship and cards. 🎄
Christmas morning was spent at Sharon and Larry's for a delicious brunch prepared by Sharon. We opened gifts, watched Kuma shred all the tissue paper and played 5 Crowns.
Christmas evening we headed back to Aki and Kay's for Marcia's fried razor clams (provided by cousin Sally), steamed clams and cockles, and Sally's caesar salad. 😋 More fierce competition at the card table ended our night.

As always we occupied much our time spent at "home" catching up with friends and family, also got the car through DEQ, registered and serviced. We consumed a lot of tasty noodles during our stay: won ton noodle soup at Good Taste Noodles with Kay and Aki, pho at Pho Vietnam with Jan and hand stretched noodles at Noodle Man with Sharon and Larry.
We enjoyed a delicious New Year's Eve dinner prepared by cousins Sally, Michele and Diana as well as Auntie Aki. Thank you for all your hard work, especially Sally for transcribing Bachan's (Grandma's) recipes so long ago. Many thanks to Auntie Aki and Uncle Kay for their hospitality during our stay. Tomorrow we head back down to Desert Hot Springs.
