    A very very long start!

    March 11, 2022 in Iran ⋅ ☁️ 15 °C

I have decided to go to my first destination by a direct bus from Tehran to Istanbul. The news says there had been the heaviest snow in Istanbul in the last 35 years, so I have no idea how long my trip would be. The bus is less equipped in comparison to internal VIP buses and the only advantage is the charging port. The bus should leave at 9 a.m. but with two passengers being late, it finally departs with half an hour delay. And I prepare myself for at least 35-hour trip which in fact will be 45 hours :)Read more

  • A difficult night

    March 12, 2022 in Turkey ⋅ ☁️ -7 °C

We arrive at the border around midnight. Now, everyone should get her/his luggage and go through border checkpoint. I am the first person to pass all the gates. Then, there is a very small space without any seats. Some Turkish guys are smoking inside, so I prefer to stay near the door, but it is freezing outside and there are so many people coming and going. In less than an hour, the room is full of people and I can't move at all. It takes more than 4 hours until our bus comes and all this time, I regret my decision to choose traveling by bus. It is 5 in the morning, when we get on the bus and everyone falls into sleep, almost immediately. I wake up around 8 and behind the curtain, everywhere is completely white. The beautiful landscape makes me forget the hard time I had :)Read more

  • Hello Istanbul!

    March 13, 2022 in Turkey ⋅ ☁️ -7 °C

My long trip comes to an end after almost two days! When we get to Istanbul, it is still dark and it is snowing. I take a tram, a metrobüs and a taxi to get to my friend's house in Esenyurt and meet her after 5 years.Read more

  • Let's see Istanbul

    March 15, 2022 in Turkey ⋅ ⛅ 6 °C

After few days of resting in my friend's house, I go to Kapalıçarşı (Grand Bazaar) and walk around there. Bazaar is full of colors, especially shops selling Turkish delight. There are so many gold jewelry shops. My friends and I pass the main bazaar and go to places not much touristic, because they are going to see some businessmen. Multi-floor buildings, with small shops reminds me of Tehran Grand Bazaar (you can see that in a video I post here). After that, we walk in streets, one with pigeons just like Marvi (a famous street in Tehran Grand Bazaar).Read more

  • Persian New Year

    March 21, 2022 in Turkey ⋅ ⛅ 6 °C

It is the first time I celebrate Persian new year (Nowruz) outside of Iran and without my family, but my friend, Mina, makes a very beautiful Haft-Sin (traditional table with 7 symbolic items).
My new year starts with a full-day solo walk in Istanbul famous spots. I go to Taksim Square, İstiklal Street and Galata Tower. I don't like crowded places, so I choose random alleys, many of them full of graffiti. At last, I go to Galata Bridge and finish my tour with a Simit!Read more

  • A birdwatching event

    April 3, 2022 in Turkey ⋅ ⛅ 14 °C

As birdwatching is a very serious hobby for me, I eager to participate in birdwatching events outside of my country to see how's everything in different places. I just saw the event's poster on Instagram and I have no idea how it will go on.
Just when I'm coming out of subway station, it starts to rain. The park is really big and I don't know where the event is. It doesn't rain for too long and after that, it is the best time for birdwatching, because birds are becoming more active and sing a lot. Then, I pass a bridge and see the tents. I go there and just try to be an observer, because everyone speaks in Turkish.
There is a gathering and a female guide explains various birds that could be seen there. Another tent belongs to children and the goal is having fun and learning while playing. They are preparing another tent to get binoculars to anyone interested. There is another gathering which I can't figure out the topic exactly, but they are talking about migratory birds. A space is designed for drawing birds and I know the instructor from Instagram, who is drawing birds for field guides. Participants for drawing are from any age, very young to old. Someone else is talking about how to interact with a bird or any animal when you find it. My favorite tent is where they inform people about eBird website and database and they even have a whiteboard and everyone can write down any species observed there. After 4 hours, the event is much more crowded and I have seen enough. I learned a lot from it and hope that one day we could perform such an event in Iran.
