Singapore strictness

After a restless sleep I awake to find I'm free!! My covid test has come back negative and in free to explore the city. I stroll out to try and purchase covid tests as I have to do one every day and a supervised one on day 2 and 7. The first thing I'm aware of is how strict they are here. When you enter any building you have to use the track and trace app and as my Internet isn't working I'm finding this extremely difficult.
After wandering around for nearly an hour I head back towards the hotel as none of the phone shops open till 11am. I chance my luck and go into 7/11 without scanning and spot sim cards for sale together with a stick of Deodorant. The guy in the shop is so helpful and even shares his data so I can set1 it up the sim card. Sim card loaded and off I go thinking things are going to be easier now only to walk nearly a mile and find it doesn't work. I stop and ask a stranger and after 10 minutes of faffing about she manages to sort it(having 2 sim cards in 1 phone isn't easy for an oldie)
I decide I'm just going to wander and just take in the city as I stroll. Wearing the face mask in this humidity is stifling and hard to breathe but I eventually make it to the waterfront. The views are beautiful and I feel gutted that there will be no fireworks this year but it certainly doesn't take away from the amazing waterfront.
I must admit travelling on my own has made me feel very vulnerable and the lack of tourists here makes me stick out like a sore thumb, this morning I had a mini melt down and was booking a flight home but after reassuring from family have realised I need to just settle in. I take the rest of the day easy and head back to the hotel to get a bath and an early night, don't know whether I'm coming or going with the time difference. Tomorrow is another day and once I've been for my pcr test am going to do some sightseeing.Read more
