Feeling homesick
21 lutego 2022, Tajlandia ⋅ ⛅ 27 °C
I wake this morning and I have an overwhelming feeling of homesickness and I really struggle to stop crying. It's a funny thing how it just totally hits you like a brick and there's no avoiding it. The is a Thai girl staying at the hostel called Wee and when she asks me if I'm OK I burst into tears again. She gives me a big hug and invites me out for the day with them. I've hired a motorbike and we make a plan to head out to one of the beaches here. They are going for breakfast first but I have already been and had my morning dose of Bubbas coffee so sit around and wait on their return. Nothing happens quickly in Thailand and eventually at midday they return. By the time we are all sorted we set off for the beach at 1pm. On the way there a girl swerves and clips my bike but luckily everyone is OK and a little bit shaken I carry on the journey. As we ride along there are huge grey clouds and I'm sure we're going to get caught in it but we arrive safe and dry and take a seat at the bar and enjoy a cocktail before walking through the sea to the island on the other side. The water fills in from both sides which has created a sand pile, almost like an island of sandpathway beneath the shallow water. It's really beautiful but when I reach the other island its so littered with rubbish I wish I'd brought a bin bag. I spend a good half hour on the little beach and in the water we see a see cucumber which is a marine animal with leathery skin. Its about a foot long and are a delicacy in Korea and China. After a little sunbathe we head back to the hostel for a quick shower before heading to The Amsterdam bar for sunset. Its a lot quieter tonight and we sit with the other guys from the hostel who are already here. I order a few snacks as I have the munchies. I sit with Suphawee Phaetwong who I have nickname nature girl is blown away by the sunset but we discuss how you will never see the same sunset and as the colours start to fade to dark the fishing boats once again line the horizon and the stars fill the sky. We stay for a few hours and finish with food in the night Market Czytaj więcej
