    Savage Alpine Trail

    August 23, 2024 in the United States ⋅ 🌫 6 °C

We got off the bus at the Savage Alpine stop to do a 4.1 mile challenging point to point hike highlighting stunning views and wildlife sightings such as grizzly bear. We started at Mount Vista near the Savage River end. It meant starting with the steep section but with pauses to catch your breath and rest your legs it was doable. There were great views of the valley and mountains but unfortunately no grizzly sightings. The trail ended with a gradual decent and we caught the shuttle to the dog sled training center to see a brief demonstration before returning to camp. A delicious supper out to a famous pizza joint put the cherry on top of the ice cream for today.Read more
