Beijing

We arrived in Beijing Thursday evening, two days before our tour began. Friday morning we set out to explore on foot the surroundings near our hotel and experienced a wee bit of culture shock. There is no internet, no signs in English, the subway system is a massive spider web all depicted with Chinese characters only, no one at the hotel speaks any English, there is no concierge or street maps available, and there is little recognizable street food. We returned to our hotel at noon and booked a guided tour for the next day. As seasoned as we are, we will need help to navigate this city to make the most of our free time. We spent the remainder of the day reading, resting and catching up on laundry.Leggi altro
