Bilbao to Playa de la Areña

I ended up taking a train from Bilbao to Portugalete, then walking to Playa de la Arena. And still It was a sweat and grit workout. I passed Bastilica of Santa Maria on the way. Cathedrals and churches are always a good resting place on the way. A place to take time for prayer, meditation, cool down, and coax a bit of encouragement to myself to carry on. I was glad to be able to have more time for swimming and walking on the beach. I ate out with a glass of vino blanco. I walked some more on the beach at 9: and 10: with other beach combers. There was even an ice cream booth on the warf, and I had vanilla ice cream on a cone. It all feels so luxurious, everything I taste, touch, and see after a long day of hard walking. I do appreciate the finer things we have in life, and I'm overwhelmed with gratefulness. I was able to sleep in a lovely room with an open window and clean sheets. A perfect evening!Read more
