Cairns

We had a lovely reset in Cairns and time to prepare ourselves mentally, at least, for the Cape York trip. Some actual research done but no bookings. We are just going to wing it. Day 1 was a lot of time on the scooter along the waterfront whilst the car and caravan were being serviced. This took all day. Breakfast and lunch along the waterfront then dinner was pizza from the pizza van at the caravan park. The cool waters caravan park was lovely. They have a stream with turtles and a fantastic camp kitchen with some entertainment. We attended the sausage sizzle to raise money for camp Australia and listened to, and sang along with the singer. Our table mates got into the swing of things and the wife was even more off key than me.(not sure that was true) Lots of fun.
Whilst Jamie worked I rested, had a swim, went shopping (groceries) and went on a couple or walks. We were staying on a creek at the foot of the mountains rather than on the waterfront but very pretty. We had lunch and drinks at the Hemingway brewery at the pier.
