• Last Day of hiking

    January 13 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 16 °C

Last night's dinner was a delicious mushroom risotto. The packs today were nice and light for the 14km hike out. The first 1km was a walk up Mt Forescue. I didn't notice the climb too much as it was rainforest all the way up, with so many beautiful and interesting shapes and mosses. Another majestic view at the top made the uphill trek worth it. We then hiked down Mt Forescue to a track junction.Thankfully some of the hiking was able to be done without our packs, as we left them at the junction for our walk of 4000 steps up and down out to Cape Hauy and back. This was quite challenging without the pack, so glad we could leave it. After our final meal on the hike, at the track junction we headed out to Forescue bay. This section of the hike was not too challenging. After arriving at Fortescue Bay and changing into bathers, Tim, Jamie and I had a swim.....well dived in the got out again due to the cold. Apparently the water was 17 degrees. A bus took us back to Port Arthur where we collected the rental car and headed back to the air BNB at white beach. Showers, a local gin and counter meal was a great end to the walk.Read more
