Mount Rushmore

The road to Mount Rushmore is very beautiful, after days of flatland and prairie we finally saw some mountains again. Our friends from Minneapolis recommended us several things for the area, but again, many things were closed in the winter. The whole area is very touristic, with old trains, gold museums, helicopter tours etc. We expected to be able to hike at Mount Rushmore, and spend more time, but there was only a short trail, with some nice views on the sculpture. It was interesting, but we both expected the monument to be bigger and to have more stuff to do in the park. We had a scenic drive though to our next stop.Read more
