Telegraph Creek, petit village qui a une histoire liée au Gold Rush, comme tout dans cette partie du pays.
Mais avant ça, c’est surtout le territoire de la Tahltan nation. First nation qui vivent ici depuis longtemps. Mais Telegraph Creek a pris de l’importance quand des prospecteurs ont trouvé de l’or dans la Stikine River dans les années 1860. Puis la construction de la ligne de télégraphe entre la Russie et les USA a donné son nom au village. Aujourd’hui, il y a environ 200 habitants. Les photos montrent le trading post qui accueille aujourd’hui un restaurant mais seulement pour la saison d’été.
On a eu l’impression que les habitants vivaient principalement du tourisme l’été. Il n’y a pas l’air d’y avoir de grosse activité l’hiver.

Telegraph Creek is a small community related to the Gold Rush, like a big part of this par of the country. Before that (and now), it was the territory of the Tahtlan Nation, that were living here since a while. Telegraph Creek grew up when prospectors found gold on the Stikine River in the 1860s. Then the telegraph construction between Europe (through Russia) and the USA gave its name to the locality. Today there is about 200 inhabitants. The picture is the trading post that is now a restaurant during the summer season. We understood than during summer there is a lot of tourist activity, while in winter it looks quite calm.Read more
