    Grand View Point, Canyonland NP, UT

    Point de vue depuis Grand View Point dans Canyonland National Park. Cette partie du parc (d´ou est pris la photo) est nommée « Island in the Sky » (trad: l’île dans le ciel) car c’est un plateau environ 370m au dessus du plateau que l’on peu voir en dessous, et 670m au dessus du niveau de la rivière qu’on ne peut même pas voir.

    View from Grand View Point in Canyonland National Park. This part of the park (from where it’s shot) is named « Island in the sky » because this is a plateau about 1200ft (370m) above the one under, and around 2200ft (670m) above the river level (that cannot be seen).     Czytaj więcej

    Aztec Butte est une colline rocheuse qui donne un superbe panorama sur le parc et ses environs. À proximité nous pouvons voir des restes de constructions faites par des nomades il y a environ 1000 ans (pour stocker des vivres).

    Notre lieu de camping ce soir nous offrirai une superbe vue sur les roches éclairées par le soleil ! Nous avons personnes autour de nous a plusieurs kilomètres à la ronde. C’est l’une des zones les plus silencieuses que nous connaissons (pas de bruit d’animaux no d’insectes).

    Canyonlands National Park est découpé en plusieurs parties. La seconde qui nous est accessible est “The Needles” (les aiguilles). Nous avons fait une randonnée dans la zone, afin de nous approcher de celle-ci. Cette zone s’appelle Chester Park et donne un super panorama sur le parc.

    Nous avons décidé de passer les 3 et 4 juillet à Salt Lake City, connue pour avoir hébergé les JO en 2002. Cette ville est assez curieuse. Elle est plutôt jolie, en revanche ce week-end, elle semblait complètement fantôme, les rues étaient désertes. Cela est probablement du au fait que cela soit le 4 juillet. La ville fait également très neuve/récente, alors qu’elle a été fondée au milieu du 19ème siècle.

    We decided to spend July 3rd and 4th in Salt Lake City, UT, famous for hosting the olympics in 2002. This city is quite curious. While it’s quite pretty, it seems to be a ghost town when we were visiting it, streets where totally empty. It’s probably due to the fact that it was July 4th week-end. L’intérieur est accessible et permet de voir l’immense auditorium de 21.000 places.

    Antelope Island est la plus grande ile dans le Great Salt Lake (Grand Lac Salé) qui est à coté de Salt Lake City. En ce moment c’est une péninsule car le niveau du lac est très bas. On peut y observer de nombreux bisons qui pâturent sur l’ile.

    Geyser, Soda Springs, ID

    Ce geyser est au centre de Soda Springs. À nouveau il s’agit d’un geyser dont l’eau est expulsé à cause d’une poche de gaz carbonique percée et non à cause de la géothermie. Il a été créé lors d’un forage pour trouver des sources d’eau chaude. Après plusieurs mois d’éruption incontrôlée, une valve a été ajoutée afin d’éviter l’inondation de la ville. C’est le seul geyser captif.

    This geyser is in the center of Soda Springs, ID. Again this is a co2 induced geyser due to an exploration well (looking for hot water this time). After several months of uncontrolled spewing a valve was installed to prevent town flooding. It’s the only captive geyser.     Czytaj więcej

    Nous sommes allés voir un rodéo dans Jackson, WY qui est la ville quasiment accolée au parc. C’est super sympa a voir et c’est quelque chose de très familial. Tous les enfants du public ont pu participer et tenter d’attraper un fanion accroché à des moutons.
