I’ve had to split today’s blogs since FindPenguins limits each diary entry to 20 photos.

Lightning Ridge has an interesting way of guiding tourists – the “Car Door Explorer Tours.” Each tour is marked by a different colored car door at key locations. Today, we did the orange tour, which took us through Grawin and Glengarry, the original opal fields of the area. It was exactly what I imagined Lightning Ridge would be like: shanty towns, ramshackle huts, and cars driving around with no registration or windows. It was a real eye-opener.
