• Port Augusta to Ceduna

    May 31, 2021 in Australia

Up at sparrow fart again, stunning dawn over Flinders ranges. About 30 mins out of Port Augusta came across the edge of Cultana Military training ground and appeared that an armoured or cavalry exercise had just been completed. The low loaders were turning up to pick up the Abrams tanks. Only 460+k to go today to Ceduna and ended up being a bit of a painful drive . Strong winds buffeting the side of the van causing a bit of wallowing. Slowed down and all was good. Played havoc with the fuel economy though. Topped up with the jerry to make it to Ceduna. 100l and 470k we get to Ceduna with about 20k left in the tank. We stayed in the Ceduna Foreshore Caravan park where I last stayed in 1989 when towing my parents van over to Perth. It has been done up now and a really nice park with double concrete pads. Had lunch at the Oyster Shack (it was recommended) and was great. Dinner at the foreshore hotel. Planning to get to Eucla tomorrow and stay at the old telegraph station. Hoping for complete off grid with no one around, clear skies and awesome star viewsRead more
