• Day 29 Exmouth to Karratha

    25 Jun 2021, Australia

Got up early for the 540k drive to Karratha. Had a visitor wandering the caravan park early this morning. This was the first emu we had seen in the whole trip. Copped a head wind most of the way which played havoc with my fuel economy. Haven’t been in Karratha since 1983 on training with the Australian Army. It has changed a lot and seems more like a small city with trendy bars etc. I suppose the mining dollars being spent. The Caravan parks are full so we got a 48 stay for free at the council overflow parking at the Karratha Country Club. You have to be self contained but that is fine. It is also only about 1k from the bars and restaurants. As it is full moon tonight we headed out to Hearsons Cove Burrup Peninsula to witness the Stairways to the moon. This is when there is a full moon an the reflection on the water makes it look like there are steps all the way to the moon. It was actually a very good location. Heaps of vehicles there all for the same thing. Had dinner at the Country Clib near where the van is parked out. Will have dinner in town tmw, off to check out Dampier, Point Samson, Cossack etc tmwBaca lagi
