    Day 5 Nile Cruise

    After exploring the Valley of the Kings, we headed to our cruise. The boats were all lined up side by side, so you’d actually walk through one to reach the next. Cruising up the Nile felt like a procession of riverboats—maybe 30 in total—moving together. Small craft come out from shore selling stuff like scarves and table cloths and throw them up to the boat a the money get thrown down. In the evening, docking was a choreographed dance, with boats lining up alongside each other, sometimes seven or eight deep. It was an impressive sight, watching them settle in so neatly.Read more

    Another day another Temple.
    The cruise is great. So far it has been a very busy, full on holiday. Maybe I shouldn’t call it a holiday but a tour as there has been no real down time

    Day 7 Abu Simbel P1

    It’s a long drive to Abu Simbel. We departed at 4am, it is a massive line of tourist coaches and mini buses on the road. About 1.5 hours into the journey we stopped at a roadside stop which is nothing like you would expect, run down shack with toilets and small cafe. Miles and miles of nothing, no trees or bushes to be seen. As we get closer to Lake Nasser (biggest man made lake in the world) there are canals and irrigated crops in the middle of the Nubian Desert. Abu Simbel was originally site where is now the bottom of Lake Nasser. It was moved during construction of the dam. This was a very difficult job as Abu Simbel is one complete carving in the rock. It was very impressive but very crowded and full of ignorant pushy people. It is the only downside to visiting these places

    Day 9 A day at GEM P1

    Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM)
    We took an Uber to the new museum, which cost about 100 Egyptian Pounds (around $1.35 USD). Unfortunately, I couldn’t bring my Insta 360 inside and had to leave it at the security counter. The museum is huge, though not all exhibits are open yet—the King Tut section is still closed. It’s impressive, with so much to see, but honestly, we’re starting to feel a bit “statued out.” Moving on!

    Egypt’s Roads
    Driving in Egypt is an adventure. Road rules seem to be more of a suggestion here; in fact, sticking strictly to them might mean you’ll never reach your destination. A two-lane road often ends up holding three or four cars across, with most drivers straddling the lane markings. It’s wild!

    Day 9 Farewell Egypt

    The delay and experience on Nile Air was ordinary to say the least. I can see why Jetstar would seem like a major step up after that. A juice box thrown at you as an inflight meal, with crew more focused on TikTok than the passengers. The landing one of the hardest I have experienced —that’s memorable, to say the least.

    Egypt itself is overwhelming. Each site is more impressive than the last, and the history is just mind-blowing. It’s strange to think that even King Tut would have thought of the Pyramids as ancient.

    The hawkers are relentless, too—no doesn’t seem to mean much, and they’re definitely not shy about following you. Good thing your guide had your back and knew how to keep them away. And the temples are incredible; it’s amazing that some have only been uncovered in recent years, with artifacts still in place. So many highlights it’d be hard to pick a favorite. many.
    They say there is still so much more yet to discover in Egypt .

    You can see the smog

    Day 10 Hello India

    Overnight flight from Cairo, departed 11.45pm and landed Delhi 07.00am Cairo time. Indira Gandhi Airport Delhi is not what I expected , very clean and efficient. The smog however is next level, a brown haze everywhere. Settled into hotel and had a sleep. Caught an Uber to a close shopping mall, Vegas Mall, it’s massive. Happy now, found Beer Cafe, really good craft beers

    Day 11 Tour of Delhi P1

    Delhi traffic is intense—makes Cairo feel tame. Our first stop was Old Delhi and the Jama Masjid. I found the mosque a bit underwhelming, to be honest. Afterward, we took a 30-minute rickshaw ride through the packed streets of Old Delhi. That was definitely an experience—a true mix of people and cultures all in one place.

    Next, we visited the memorial where Gandhi was cremated, surrounded by tall gum trees at the entrance.

    Lunch was at Lazeez Affaire in Chandni Chowk, one of the top North Indian spots in Delhi (www.lazeezaffaire.co.in). The food didn’t disappoint. Afterward, we saw a few more temples and mosques, but by then, I’d lost interest. Between the shoe-removal rules, no-photo policies, and the constant presence of hawkers and beggars, I opted to just wait on the bus. We finally got back to the hotel around 7 p.m.—it was a long day.

    Day 12 Jaipur - The Drive

    6 hours on a bus to cover 250k from Delhi to Jaipur. Took over 1.5 hours just to get out of Delhi The bus is quite old (engine in front next to driver) and I thin the max speed he hit was 80kph. Called into a roadhouse for lunch and had KFC. The wraps are Naan. Bread. tandoori chicken wrap on Naan was really good. Must not be short of a quid around here. The bus parked next to a Bentley Bentyaga and Range Rover SV

    Day 12 Jaipur - Markets P1

    Checked into the hotel, but it was a bit of a letdown—no towels, room still not fully cleaned, and a few other issues.

    Later, we took a bus to the evening markets. They said Jaipur was quieter than Delhi, but it’s just as wild here. I’ll share the video footage soon. Walking through the markets, we saw monkeys hanging out on rooftops and upper floors. The market had hundreds of stalls, all selling similar items.

    Afterward, we visited a Hindu temple where crowds gathered, singing and walking in circles around the altar.
