Fortescue Falls and Fern Pool 2

    June 30, 2021 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

After lunch at Circular Pool lookout ( the pool had been closed due to a rock fall recently). We headed to the information centre to buy our Karijini sticker. Whilst we were there, the kids meet a lovely lady Kaylene, who spent a good hour with the kids teaching them about the local Aboriginal heritage of Karijini. She took the kids around the centre explaining the Aboriginal different tribes, the meaning of the goanna to Karijini, how to say different animals using the local Aboriginal language and respecting the National park. She was so lovely, she did it all using stories that the kids would understand. The boys were so interested in everything she had to say. It was the the best information centre we have been to and you could tell that Kaylene was passionate about passing on her knowledge. This is the type of activity I have been hoping to involve the kids in as we travel. The boys are now ‘ junior rangers’ and are waiting for their badges to be posted out. Lachlan is taking his role very seriously and and has even said he wants to be a ranger when he grows up.Read more
