• Last camp before Christmas

    December 18, 2021 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 37 °C

What a spot we got for our last camp before heading to Port Hedland to spend Christmas with Aunty Mel, Joel and Taj.

We checked out every spot and this beauty was the last one on the track. It was right on the beach, was surrounded by turtle nests and right out the front were some lovely rock pools.

We quickly set up and headed for the rock pools to cool down, it was a blistering 44 degrees, the rock pools were a divine mid 30s.

Brett enjoyed sitting in the pools, drinking beer and getting fresh oysters off the rocks, Lachlan tried them but was not a fan.

We really wanted to see some dugongs while we were here, but no luck this time. The second time we took the boat out hunting, an unpredicted wind of over 50km/h came out of nowhere. It was a rough and wet ride back to the ramp.

Cleaverville did leave a lasting impression though, as on the 2nd night we got an influx of midges, which attacked the kids and I! Due to the extreme heat we had left the caravan windows open, so we all woke up at 2am being eaten alive!

We spent the 3rd day relaxing in the pools beating the heat and escaped in the late afternoon before the midges set in finding a camp for the night away from the water. Lucky we had enough fuel in the generator to run the air conditioner all night because it was another hot one.
