• Peridot Fossicking - Mortlake

Yay, we made it to the once a month peridot fossicking, which has only just opened up again after covid! We were very lucky to get to have a go at fossicking for these gems.

The hard work had been done for us, all the rocks had been dug up by the machines at the Mt Shadwell quarry, all we had to do was spend all day looking through piles upon piles of rocks for the right sort and break them open! Easy right 🤣🤞?

Well, it was harder than it sounds, so 9 days into the trip we are loaded up with rocks again 😬! As we only had limited time at the quarry, we decided it was best to load up on rocks and do the breaking and sieving for gems later!

Towards the end of the day, when we were getting ready to head down the hill, Brett found the rock of the day, it was full of huge gems stones, it was a stunner. After that win we called it quits, happy with our big find 🤗
